Chapter two: Fateful Evening
As time passed, with minutes becoming hours… and hours becoming days… to months… to years … to 300 centuries.
Princess Harushi’s people were really surprised because even after 300 centuries, their Princess was still young and beautiful. The jewel had given her both a gift and a curse.
Eternal youth has brought nothing but grief for Princess Harushi. As she watched people around her die as time passes, her parents and friends, she could do nothing but weep. But as her mother told her, princesses don’t cry, she convinced herself that it was her destiny.
When Princess Harushi’s 30 000th birthday came, the whole Kingdom prepared a celebration… including the 10 guardians.
It was a beautiful evening because it was full moon, Princess wandered around the palace, wearing her fine evening dress. She was unhappy, it reflected in her eyes. She danced in the gardens and along the hallways. A guardian followed her and it was obvious that he was in love with the Princess, but he already accepted that he was just a protector and has no right to fall in love with Her Majesty.
This guardian’s name was Hirai. Princess knew that he was following secretly ever since she first left the grand party.
Harushi stopped dancing ballet and for a split second hid beneath the darkness. Hirai was dumbfounded when Princess disappeared before his eyes.
Then the lunar light shone over Princess, who was smiling at Hirai. While Hirai became red and denied that he was following Harushi.
“You slipped.” Princess grinned, “I wasn’t asking anything yet.”
“Ah yes,” Hirai became redder, “I’m sorry. I was following you, Your Majesty…”
“Please, just call me Harushi.” Princess smiled.
“But—!” Hirai got shy.
“No buts that’s an order!” Princess scolded.
