A beginning.
People say that beginnings are just other beginnings ending.
Most beginnings start off good.
Y'know, the princess and the prince. Both obvious to their love for each other.
Not this one.
I was never a good kid in school. Don't get me wrong, I got good marks, but I was the kid everyone avoided.
The kid in corner?
Every school has one.
That was me.
I tried 4 times in my last year.
Cutting. Slicing. Even choking.
Yeah. It's one of those stories.
---
The end of school was the beginning for me. And don't get me wrong, it was okay.
I got a job. A new set of friends.
Sorry let me re-phrase.
My first set of friends. And I got Ethan. I dunno what he saw in me. But he helped, still does.
So this is my beginning.
The beginning of the end.
---
"Saph?" A voice says at my door
"You need to get up" the voice demands
I make my way to the door and swing it open.
"You ha-wow" Ethan says at the door.
"What" I deadpan pushing past him
"Don't worry, you need to get to work this morning" he explains
I groan
"I don't want to work" I whine
"Saph" he says in a dangerous tone. That tone isn't good. Means that something else is happening but he isn't telling me
He's great. He get's me. But he's stressed. All the time.
"Did something happen" I say walking into the bathroom
"It's complicated" he says with a sigh.
"What is it?" I ask grabbing my brush
"Just stuff, look all you need to worry about is work" he explains
I shrug it off. If he's not ready, he's not ready.
I've learnt that over time.
I used to try to force information out of people and leave them crying on the floor.
Compassion didn't exist then.
But meeting Ethan changed everything. He just seemed to know exactly what to do and how to do it.
After I'm satisfied with my hair, I quickly brush my teeth and throw on a black hoodie with matching jeans and converses.
Yes, all black.
What else?
---
Work came and went. I worked at a drive though coffee place. It's crappy but it pays okay. And I don't have to talk to customers. That's up to Mia. She does all that.
"Yes, welcome to the coffee kingdom. No we don't serve tea. Sorry madam, I'm going to have to ask you to move along" she said and continued to mumble and curse under her breath.
"You right there Mia?" I ask through the headset.
"Oh me? Yeah fine." She says sarcastically.
She drives me to and from work, with our other co-worker Ashton, I just call her Ash. She's pretty much everything a guy would look for in a girl.
Mia does the orders, I make the coffee, Ash delivers the good and helps me where she can.
"Y'know, it'd be much quicker if you didn't wash the frothy thingy" she pointed out.
"Yes" I admitted "but cross-contamination will kick our ass" I explain
She just nods.
I like the girls. They support me. And I appreciate that.
A lot.
Ash drives us home in her mum's old car, which still has a CD player and everything.
"That guy was totally checking you out Saph" She says as she turns down my street.
"Don't be ridiculous" I say, shrugging it off
"I think he digs the piercings" Mia jokingly suggests, as Ash turns into my driveway.
I get out and I'm followed by them both. I turn around to see them holding bags of what seemed to be clothes.
"What are you guys doing?" I question, walking up to then
"Were you listening today? We said we were going to stay at yours and then you mumbled a yes?" Ash explains
"Ohh, okay" I say
"I didn't ask Ethan" I say
"Don't worry, it'll be fine." Mia says grabbing the key and opening the door.
I walked in behind her and called for Ethan. He jogged down and hugged me.
"Do you-" I started but he beat me to it
"I don't mind" he says
"I'll leave if you want the house to yourselves?" He suggests
"No, it's fine" I say
He smiles and hugs me again. I look up at him. I have to get on my toes but I peck his lips and smile back.

We watched a movie.
I wasn't interested to be honest but I did it because the girls wanted to.
I could feel myself drifting asleep.
Maybe sleep is a good thing.
Like falling asleep forever, y'know?
I felt myself being gently picked up and soon enough I was back in my bed.
Suddenly I heard a clattering near my door.
"Shit" Ethan whispered
"What did you do?" I ask, sitting up
"Knocked over something. I think it was your tripod" he explains "and your mic stand"
"It's okay, the good shit is safe" I explain, flopping back down
"Goodnight princess" he chuckles
"Goodnight Ethan"
Today was good.
For once.
