As soon as we got in the shelter, I hugged Taylor and she hugged me back. I told her that I loved her and that we will be okay. About another hour later, the gun shots started up again. Everyone in the shelter but me and Taylor went out to see what was going on. As soon as they got out, there was an explosion very close. I waited a few minutes before going to look to see what happened. My dad, stepmom, and brother never came back and I began to worry. After I finally decided to go look, I told Taylor that I will be right back. She said okay and I went. About a minute later I came back in extremely fast and said my family had died in the explosion. I started to cry. Taylor came beside me and hugged me and it is going to be okay.
Once we heard the gunshots stop, we turned on the radio. The radio had said that the German soldiers had left this area. Taylor and I went outside to see how bad the damage was. Almost all the buildings around us had been destroyed. I hugged Taylor and she asked, "What are we going to do?" I said that I don't know yet. We started walking around holding hands while I had my shotgun in my free hand. It seemed that everyone had run away or died. We had to find some place to stay. We also tried to find people here in Oklahoma but it was empty. We look for a place to stay and found one house still standing. We decided to go in there for the night. The house was very clean on the inside and was really big. We found the master bedroom and laid down in that bed and fell asleep.
