School had ended but Cassandra stood by her locker, looking down at her textbook in confused thought. She could have SWORN that she had left the note in there, but it was nowhere to be found.
"Earth to Cass." A girl said, causing Cass to jump. Her friend Amy stood beside her, arms crossed and brown eyes sparkling with annoyance. Amy was what most people would consider plain. She had straight, flat brown hair, brown eyes, and a pale complexion. However, Cassandra knew that Amy was anything BUT plain. When Amy got mad her soft brown eyes turned a dark brown that reminded Cass of the rich dark earth after rainfall and when she was sad Amy's eyes became a somber light brown that seemed to be melting chocolate. Her voice was soft and melodious, like the wind brushing against wind chimes. Not only were her eyes and voice captivating, but her attitude was a force to be reckoned with. Amy was stubborn, reckless, and a poor sport, but she was also intelligent, brave, and loyal. She had become Cassandra's friend when they were six. Amy had found Cassandra putting bugs in one of the school bullies backpack, and instead of telling pulled snake from her drawstring bag to add in.
"Sorry Amy,." Cass said, giving her friend a guilty smile and putting the textbook up. "It's just that I can't find the note I wrote earlier." She frowned. Amy's stern look softened some. Casandra's father had been the former Alpha, but when she was ten he betrayed the pack by killing three members and then running way. He was later found in the woods a few miles out, he had been killed but they didn't know by what. Cass still had nightmares about the whole affair and had been told by the school counselor that writing the nightmare down in a note and destroying it would help. Since she was running late this morning she had brought the note to school with the thought of destroying it after.
"You were gonna get rid of it anyway, gone is gone, right Cass?" Amy asked shutting her friend's locker and guiding her down the hall.
"Yeah" Cassandra agreed, frowning and looking back at her locker.
"Now come on, Nicks waiting for us," Amy said as they exited the school. Cass smiled and followed her friend. They made it to the edge of the nearby woods in a matter of minutes, but Nick was there looking at his watch and tapping his foot in annoyance. He heaved a heavy sigh when he finally spotted the two girls approaching.
"Cassandra Marie Sade! Amy Sin Bryant! Do you know how late you are?" He seethed, placing his hands on his hips and jutting his lip out in an enraged pout. "We are supposed to meet the patrol group in three minutes and we are at least a fifteen-minute walk out!" Cassandra Stifled a smile, as Amy rolled her eyes.
"Nick, we can shift into wolves and run there on time," Amy said, reminding Nick about them being werewolves, a fact that Nick tended to forget when he was mad.
"Oh...yeah." Nick blushed. "Well let's get going then!"
