How would you know your world is about to change? That everything around you will never be the same as it was before? When the responsibility is then handed to you, how would you deal with it? Some say you get a bad feeling that something is about to happen. What if you did only it was too late?

That morning, I knew nothing more than my sister, Leia, was on my very last nerve. She knows exactly how to push every single one of my buttons as she looks right at me with a smirk as she continues to do so. You'd think sisters get each other, that they've got this bond that nobody can break. Sadly, in our case, it just wasn't true.

We got into the car with our parents that morning just like we did every other morning. The sky was such a pretty shade of periwinkle. I remember putting my hair into a ponytail while I watched the trees pass as the vehicle sped down the old dirt road. Leia noisily texting, the buttons clicking as her thumbs smashed down onto the letters. As if the buttons were hard to push even though it was a touch screen.

Everything was so beautiful as the sun rays hit it. The temperature outside was perfect and it was almost like I could feel the water trickling over my toes. That's where we were headed, just out for a family day at the lake. The anticipation was eating away at me, I couldn't wait to cup my hands full of water, touch them to my lips, and sip. Only... that didn't get to happen.

It all still seems like a blur. Suddenly, the trees were no longer in a line. They swirled around us. Leia's phone dinged. There was yelling and hair flying. Trees were topsy turvy. I can remember the distinct sound of glass shattering. It still makes me cringe. Smoke, the smell of smoke. Then, nothingness.
