The time was nearly upon us, the time for my first personality swap. No one in Olds would know what hit them the minute the new me walked in. But first, I had to become the new me.
“Are you sure now is the time for a new look? You still have exams before you leave and what about you and Harrison? I mean you guys have been dating for a solid year and a half. What’s he going to think about this whole new look and your sudden absence?” Clarity second guessed.
“Maybe your right.. He at least deserves to know what’s going on, anyways. I mean he loves me. I can’t just up and disappear, but as far as exams go, believe me, I’ve got that covered. Text him and tell him to meet me at the new burger place beside the uptown salon A.S.A.P.”
BEEP BEEP. Clarity received a reply. He was on his way, but I had no clue what I was in store for next.
“Grab a table for us, Clarity. I’ll order. Do you want to just share a bottomless bag of fries? Kay.” Clarity went for a table as Harrison strutted in to see me.
He gently kissed my cheek, “Hey babe, what’s going on? Why did you want me to meet you here so urgently?”
“You want anything? I’ll explain everything as soon as we get our food. Okay, Hun?” He nodded and sat down with Clarity.
I brought the large tray of miscellaneous food items to the pirate themed booth and sat across from Harrison. We sat in silence for what seemed like forever as I thought about how I was going to explain this in a way that wouldn’t make me seem completely psycho. I reached for a fry to calm my nervous, tumbling stomach only to find Clarity had already scarfed down every last fry in the so called ‘Bottomless Bag’.
“I have no clue how to say this, Harrison… But..” He quickly interrupted me in a complete panic.
“I know where this is headed Ter. No need to continue. I can’t even believe this. I mean really? In front of our best friend, two? Your breaking my heart, couldn’t you at least spare my dignity?”
“Whoa there Harri! You have no clue what your saying! I was trying to tell you… I have to move after exams.. My dad’s job decided to transfer him to Olds so I wont be attending MarriMount High any longer.”
“Whoa.. Wait. So your not breaking up with me?”
“Harrison I would never! You’re the love of my life! If I broke your heart I’d be breaking mine two!”
“Awe How sweet!” Clarity interrupted, “Now enough with the love fest! You still have to tell him about the plan!”
“Plan? What plan?” Harrison looked worried at me and I slid farther into the booth.
“Well… Clarity and I came up with this idea that if I change pretty much everything about me in the most anti-parent-approval way humanly possible then maybe my dad will see that he’s not ruining my life without a good fight!”
Harrison raised his eyebrows at me in doubt and face palmed. He starred at me with a look of disapproval and almost disgust.
“What if he still makes you move? Then what will you do Teresa? See that’s the problem with your plans. They’re well thought out. Just not well enough! If he still makes you move then your stuck with this drastically changed new you half an hour away from your amazing comforting boyfriend. Then what Teresa? Then what?”
“Then, Harrison, I make his life bloody hell! He’ll wish he never got on my bad side!” I stood up and smashed my fist down onto the table in front of him, “So are you going to help the love of your life or not?”
