CHAPTER 1:
“Teresa Juliet Caralyn please come to the office. Teresa Caralyn,” The intercom beckoned to me welcoming my lovely immature grade 10 class to ooh and aah that I was in some deep life ruining trouble. I flipped the finger at a few of my insolent classmates before my teacher threatened to escort me himself.
I trudged through the hallways and down the stairs to the dark, yet somehow very welcoming, front office. I was greeted by a very excited and pleasant secretary, and shoved forward to the back of the office where Principle Jonathan Morgan sat proudly.
“Good morning, Miss Caralyn. I hope I didn’t startle you with the surprise call down here but your father has notified me that there is some scheduling and planning to do before next year.” Mr. Morgan pulled out my chair for me and sat at the other side of an extra large mahogany desk.
“Plans… Before next year? What are you talking about? And… My father? My father asked you to talk to me?” I inquired, rather confused. “I have no clue what your talking about, I’m sure you know.”
“Oh, I guess your father hasn’t told you yet. Well, I was really hoping he would have, or at least your mother had. But, I guess it’s my job to tell you. You see, Teresa. Your being transferred to the private school in Olds for this coming year. Your fathers job here is getting rather full so he’s being transferred. Don’t worry it’s a fairly good school. It is a private one after all. I’m sure you’ll make lots of…” I abruptly cut him off.
“Moving? I’m being transferred? Dad’s making me move and he doesn’t even have the balls to tell me himself? Oh my fu…”
“TERESA! I realize moving isn’t exactly fun but perhaps it will be good for you. You’ll make new friends and maybe even recreate yourself a little. It’s not a big deal and knowing you I’m sure you’ll be able to adapt.”
I glared to him in utter spite and rage and promptly stormed out of his office. My butt length brown hair bounced about me as I ran. I pulled out my phone; BEEP BEEP ‘Clarity, meet me in the girls bathroom by the computer lab in the upper west hallway NOW’. I texted the best of my best friends.
“What a D-bag! And he didn’t even have the balls to spit it out for himself, he just called up Mr. Jerkface Morgan to tell you instead and actually thought that would be easier? What a total…”
“Okay Clarity, I got it, my dad’s a total twit. Now what do I do about it? I know Olds isn’t that far away and all but it’s a freaking private school! He might as well just enter me in a Miss Universal Princess Pageant! God, it’s like Prepsalvania!”
“You know what you need to do Terr? You need to do something really extreme. Something… Shocking, almost! Something that will just scream ‘Fine! You want to ruin my life, well then say goodbye to your perfect daughter because she sure the hell don’t live here anymore!’”
“Holy sizzle, Clarity! You might just be onto something! I’ve got an idea! Meet me at your car right after school! We’ll be in a rush, believe me. I have to head to the bank, but I’ll see you after class!”
