~Simon's POV~

"Vik! Let's go! First day of school!"

Instead of a joyous five year old running out to leave, I'm met with a cry of despair.

"Vik?"

"Papa! Papa, help!"

Thinking he's in trouble, I rush to his room. I push open the door and Vik's sitting in the middle of his rug, crying his eyes out.

I scoop my baby up and cuddle him close, cooing. He rubs his face into my shoulder, the tears slightly slowing.

"What's wrong, baby?"

"R-ring! I can't find Etan's ring!"

His little lip wobbles as he blubbers out his tragedy. I give him a comforting hug before placing him back on the floor.

"Didn't Daddy place it on your shelf last night?"

He just shrugs at me and I retrain myself from rolling my eyes. I cross the room to his bookshelf and search through it. On the top shelf, out of Vik's sight and reach, is the ring.

Kick Josh's ass later.

I place the necklace around Vik's head and he cups the ring turned pendant in his hand. He kisses it, picks up his backpack, then grabs my hand.

"Come on Papa! Kitergarden! Maybe we see Etan!"
