"I'm leaving! And I'm not coming back! "

The last words I said to my supposed to be family. I made my decision that day, and that is to run away. I can't take much more of it, of the family drama, my mom and dad are divorced, and my own brothers are my bullies. I want no more of that, I want to be free, and now I am. Although it is hard being independent, and free. Finding a job isn't easy for me, and so is finding a place to live in. I used to sleep in my car in the dump! But at least now, I have an apartment.

I hope she won't experience that. I already know what she's up to. She's looking for a job, and fortunately, 7/11 needs a new cashier. That's perfect for her, especially if she didn't get to go to college like me.

She has her headphones on with eyes closed, probably trying calm herself down. I really got her there. She really thought I was listening to music, but truth be told, I only put on my headphones so she won't talk to me. Because if she did, she might get too distracted to even get to her stop. But I gotta admit, what she did earlier, is brave, and fun. Definitely going in the internet.

Her eyes shot open, then she glanced at me. Our eyes met, and locked. Only now do I get to soak in her features. She has black hair and caramel brown eyes. Her skin tone is somewhere in between pale and tanned. Her lips are rose pink, and I can tell that she's not wearing makeup. Her eyelashes are long and dark, her eyes are caramel brown, almost like honey. I don't even know how that's possible. Like me, she probably get to soak in my features too. I don't really allow people to do that, but I feel like I could just trust her.

“Your eyes are really pretty…” she suddenly bursted out. I raised an eyebrow and she blushed wildly. Never have I ever heard anyone call my eyes pretty. I mean, they are hazel, but, no one ever called them pretty. “I mean, uh… I'm sorry! I just - ugh! My thoughts, they sometimes just comes out of my mouth.” She hid her head with her hoodie, and I just laughed. I took my headphones off, and scanned her features again. I sighed.

“It's okay. You have pretty eyes too you know.” I said, trying to calm her down. “I do?” she said with her head still down. I took her by the chin, and raised her head, leveling her warm eyes with mine. I let her hoodie down and looked at her eyes, then leaned closer. “You do. It's rare for anyone to have those eyes. They suit you to be honest.” I smiled, and she blushed. I blushed too when I realized that our faces are only inches away from each other. I let go of her chin and backed away quickly.

Great job Dylan. Now she might think you hate her… I thought to myslef.

“What's your name?” I asked, trying to lessen the awkward tension. “Scarlett. What about yours?” She looked at me with those eyes. I was unable to talk for a few seconds, then finally found my voice. “Dylan.” I reached my hand out, and she took it.

We continued shaking for a while, which is really awkward… I bet she felt the same way, coz she let go quickly after looking away from my eyes. I cleared my throat and looked away. Then…. Idea!

“So, you heading to Brooklyn to find a job?” I asked, trying to get another conversation started. “Yeah, at 7/11. Why are you asking?” she asked. I took my phone out, and paused the song playing.

“Are you in a hurry to get a job?” I asked as I leaned closer. “Well, yeah… If I get a job earlier, I can find an apartment. Also because someone else might get the job, so…” I nodded my head as she spoke. I understand that she's in a hurry… but… “Okay, I was just thinking that maybe we could have some fun. Go places, I can give you a tour around Brooklyn. I mean, I do have an apartment there.” This caught her attention. “You do?” I nodded.
