"Now what genius?" I laughed, climbing off of Shawn's back. His eyelashes glistened with raindrops, which caught the moonlight.
We both stood under my bedroom window, staring up at the vacant room.
"How's your climbing?" Shawn asked, walking over to a large winding tree, that crawled up the side of the house like a spreading fungus. He reached for a low branch and pulled on it, testing the strength.
"I guess we have no other choice than to find out. Catch me if I fall." I replied, in turn testing my weight on a low branch and pulling myself up further when I saw that it supported my weight comfortably.
"Always." Shawn murmered, so softly that I might've misheard. The wind liked tricking me like that.
My hands became stained with moss as I grabbed at anything that could launch me up further.
Before I reached my bedroom window, I turned to Shawn.
"Shawn." I whispered. He looked up expectantly.
"Yeah?"
"Uh...good night." I smiled.
He smirked softly, lifting his luscious eyelashes so that his eyes met mine.
"Good night Rose. Sweet dreams."
I climbed into the window, turning around immediately to look at Shawn. With one last glance, he turned and ran towards the distant stars.
My eyes crinkled with a smile, as I touched the pink flower that was still in my hair. Removing it from behind my ear, I placed it in a small box which was decorated delicately, but had somehow never found a good function to fulfil.
Even when the flower died, at least I had something to remember the day by. I grabbed a pen and scribbled a few words on the bottom of the box: because the world is beautiful- Shawn.
And with that, I fell onto my bed and allowed myself to drift off into the most hopeful sleep I had had in a very long time.
