The four of us sat down for dinner at an outdoor restaurant along the beach. The tension was so thick it could be cut with a knife. Everything had been great the night before but today Brad and Chad were angrily staring each other down.

Brad put his hand on my thigh possesively, as he turned his angry stare to the waiter who tried to flirt with me. All this tension was making me uncomfortable. We had just met these guys a day ago so I didn't think it was appropriate for us to witness them fighting just yet.

"Okay, the two of you need to cut that out," Lara slammed her glass on the table. Unlike me, Lara had no problem being vocal about her feelings at any given moment.

I could take down anyone in court or at the office if I needed to, but I wasn't really someone who voiced out my opinion whenever I felt like it. I was always concerned with keeping up appearances.

"Sorry babe, I just can't stand him sometimes." Chad turned his focus to Lara. He slung his arm around her shoulder and smiled at her. I could tell that his smile was fake but Lara didnt seem to mind.

Brad scoffed beside me and finished his drink in one gulp. "Such a hypocrite," he muttered under his breath but Chad had heard him.

"I should have expected this from you, " Chad spat out, "You've always been an ass."

"You're one to talk," Brad countered

"At least women know what to expect from me! I may be a douche but at least I'm honest about it."

"I'm warning you. Stay the fuck out of my business," Brad spat out. His entire body was literally shaking. His fists were clenched so tightly that hundreds of veins popped out all over his arms.

Chad got up and stormed off leaving an awkward silence behind. I didn't know how to calm down a man I had just met. I barely knew him, but I figured I had to try so I awkwardly placed my hand on his shoulder.

He visibly relaxed, though I wasn't sure if it was me who had that effect on him or the fact that his friend had left. Whatever they were fighting about seemed private so I didn't want to pry.

Lara looked content eating her dinner with a smile on her face which was pretty weird because her "man" had left. This got me curious because I knew that she knew something that she wasn't telling me. She was the most curious person I'd ever known so it was obvious that she was in the loop. I made a mental note to find out later.

By the end of our dinner Brad was back to his cheerful personality. Lara excused herself, leaving Brad and I alone. "Wanna take a walk on the beach?" He turned to me.

It was obvious I wouldn't decline that offer. We walked side by side along the beach, taking in beautiful crimson horizon painted by the setting sun. Brad took my hand in his and entwined our fingers.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't happy, in fact I was thrilled. Being next to him just felt right. We didn't need words to communicate. I felt closer to this man whom I'd only known for a day than my ex who I'd known for years.

I was the biggest sceptic when it came to love, but being in such a perfect moment made me a believer. As much as I didn't want to get ahead of myself I knew that this was love. It was something I'd never felt before. Every part of me just wanted this perfect stranger.

"20 questions," Brad's deep, smooth voice interrupted my thoughts.

"You go first," I laughed.

"Favourite colour?"

"Green," I answered. "You?"

"Brown."

"Really? Brown is your favourite colour. The colour of mud? Seriously."
