We spent the entire night talking. I found out that Brad and I actually lived in the same city and that he was a marketing executive here on a brainstorming retreat with a few of his employees and, coincidentally, he had also dragged his best friend along, well "dragged" is an exaggeration, more like, his friend invited himself.
I didn't tell him much about myself besides me being a lawyer and sharing a house with my best friend. Other than that there really wasn't much to tell. My life existed between work and home, which was pretty boring sometimes, but I didn't have anything else to do or anywhere else to go. Lara's life was too wild for me so I always sat out on her nights out on the town, which happened to be every night.
"So, why are you here alone by the way?" Brad asked, "I mean, you're a gorgeous woman, so I find it hard to believe that you'd be here all by yourself."
"Yes, I'm single." I smirked
"That obvious huh?" He rubbed the back of his neck nervously.
"Yep," I laughed, "Lawyer, remember? " I pointed at myself
"Right. I can't get anything passed you. I like that"
I must have blushed every shade of red known to mankind. My body was reacting in ways I had never imagined. Don't get me wrong, I'd had boyfriends before whom I was intimate with, but still, that couldn't compare to what I was feeling right now.
Sitting here in this man's presence was the best feeling I'd ever felt in all 28 years of my existence. There was just something about him that was pulling me in, forcefully. I felt like I'd lost all control of my body. I was sitting so close to him that I could feel his whisky scented breath brushing along my lips every time he spoke.
"Well this is cozy," Lara's voice came from beside me effectively pulling me away from Brad. "Oh no, don't stop on my account." She pushed me back to Brad.
"Where have you been La?" I asked her. It was obvious I was trying to deflect the attention from myself.
"Ha! You know you haven't thought of me once babe." She giggled. "But if you must know, I was doing some very naughty things to Mr. Chad Greyson over here."
That's when I noticed the tall, well built, blonde guy standing behind her with four drinks in his hands. He was quite handsome, but his baby face was probably his selling point. I got the feeling that he was the male version of Lara by the smirk on his face and his eyes which went straight to my bare legs.
"So that's where you've been," Brad chuckled
"You two know each other?" Lara looked between the two men
"Of course. That's my bro," Chad answered
"Whatever. Let's go Chad, round two awaits us," Lara pressed her body against his.
"I think you mean round eight baby girl," Chad said loudly.
"Okay, gross, get a room." I shuddered. I planned on asking her about her "once is nice, twice ain't right" rule later.
Lara never hooked up with a guy more than once so there had to be something special about this Chad guy. Maybe it was because he seemed to be as big of a player as she was so it was a challenge. I was taken out of my thoughts by fingers snapping in front of my face.
"Earth to Brielle,"
"Sorry," I had completely forgotten where I was and who I was with. "So I take it Chad is the friend who invited himself?"
"Yeah," he chuckled. "We've been best friends since we were kids."
I couldn't help but be drawn in every time Brad spoke. There was something about him that was so captivating. In fact, I was so captivated that instead of sipping my drink, I ended up pouring the whole glass down my chest. Embarrassed is an understatement.
