My Dream

The moment my acceptance letter to NYU came in the mail, I knew my dreams were finally coming true. From since the time I was six and I had had my first dance recital I knew I wanted to dance for the rest of my life. I had started looking at colleges I wanted to go to. I didn't think I was good enough to go to Juilliard so I started dreaming about the second best dance school, which of course was NYU.

In just two weeks my dream would becoming true. I would be moving to New York and starting a new life.

My name is Annabelle Grace Clark. I go by Anna because I hate my full name. My parents named me Annabelle because they liked two names Anna and Belle so I guess they thought why not just put the two together. I have three siblings, one sister and two brothers.

My sister Evelyn is the oldest. The perfect child. She went to the same college my parents went to, which made my parents very happy. She's now married and has two kids and one on the way. Making my parents very happy with all the grandchildren she's providing them.

My older brother Jaxon is the problem child. He decided to not go to school and instead went off to go on tour with his so called band. I haven't seen him for over a year. My parents are very worried but also very disappointed.

Hudson is my youngest brother. He is just now in high school. He's making my parents very proud by making the varsity football team. He has amazing grades and is just following in Evelyn's perfection.

Then there's me...I'm the child that's been hidden behind their siblings. With Evelyn being so perfect and Jaxon causing so many problems, and then Hudson being the baby, there wasn't any time for me. I mean my parents cared about me and loved me, they just didn't make as much time for me as the others. It also doesn't help when you choose to go to a different college than your parents want you to go to.

That's when I really fell in love with dance. When I was six I had my first dance class. My mother couldn't put up with me dancing around the house anymore so she put me in dance. Hudson being two at the time, it just gave my mom an excuse to not deal with me after my half day of school. After my first day, I truly fell in love with it. Then as you know after my recital decided I wanted to dance for the rest of my life.

When I told my parents two years ago what school I had decided to go to, they were not very happy. They were especially not happy that I would be moving to New York. See we live in Arizona and to them New York was a world away. But their disappointment didn't last forever due to Jaxon announcing that he was going to be touring in Canada.

For the past month I've been so excited that i hadn't really started to pack. Now only having two weeks left I was feeling very stressed not knowing what I'll need for the next eight months. I know the climate can get very cold so have started a list of winter clothes I need, since in Arizona it's not very cold. I have some things packed so far like my dance clothes, a few summer clothes, and a few sentimental things I want to take with me. All of a sudden I start hearing chimes. I start to look for my phone. The chimes stop when I finally find it under a pile of dirty clothes. The alarm was for me to go to work. Ever since sophomore year I've been working at the local dance studio coaching kids dance. I got paid really good money and I got to teach kids what I love. After I would coach I would have my own dance class I would go to. Now that I only have two weeks left I won't be teaching or going to class. I would miss it but soon I'll be taking classes at the school of my dreams. I just couldn't wait.

Several hours past and I hadn't really gotten any farther in packing. I grabbed my laptop and started shopping for some winter things I would need. I scrolled through so many winter clothes. Some I found very cute like a big fluffy white winter coat, and a few sweaters. I started thinking I was going to look like an eskimo. Before I even realized, it was midnight. I had gotten no more packing done and maybe ten things boughten. Now I had one day less of packing to do. I closed my laptop and set it on my nightstand. I got undressed leaving my clothes on the floor. I found a pair of boxer shorts and a sports bra and inched my way into my bed. Sleep hit me instantly.
