"Now welcoming, new author, Eleanor Carpenter! "

It was my first talk show since becoming an author. My first book being a best seller, allowing me to live my dream.

Two years ago, sitting in Mr. Fair's AP English class I wouldn't have thought that I would make it this far. I still remember Mr. Fair asking me to stay after class, little did I know he wanted to refer me to his brother, Marty.

Marty Fair. The best manager in the world. Mr. Fair had sat me down on the cold September day, telling me all about Marty and the books he had revised and published. I was totally amazed. However when he asked if he could hand my story I had wrote over to his brother, to help me start my lifelong dream, I broke out into a waterfall of tears.

Now, I'm walking into my first interview, checking it off my bucket list.

"Good Morning Eleanor, how are you?"

"Very Well, Thank You."

"Alright, let's get to the chase. Tell us about your book, Killing Winter."

"Eleanor! That was great!" Marty exclaims as he greets me after my interview.

"Thank You, Marty."

"'I just got a call from Jack Summers, who runs the annual London Bookfair. He would be ever so thankful if you would fly out to London in two days, attending the book fair as well as sign any of your books that are purchased."

"Wow, can I think this over?" I question, taking in all the information that was just given to me.

"Of course, call me tonight. Ta Ta, Darling." He stated, turning on his heel leaving the building.

London's annual book fair, where thousands of people go to meet their favorite authors. One of those authors being me. It would be an amazing experience, that could advance me even more into the writing world. I could meet thousands of people, and get to know some of my readers. I could even find a new topic for my next book while staying there.

London could be a new start for me. I could move past everything in Seattle, it would give me some time to clear my head and not think of what happened. It could give me answers. One thing I remember about my mother and what happened was one of the last things she said to me.

My father was a reckless drunk who would spend all of my mother's hard earned money on whatever cheap alcohol he could. My mother would never leave him, nothing could make her leave that man. That was one thing she promised.

"Eleanor, one day you will fall so deeply in love, you will learn to love the imperfections, the haunting pasts that follow them. You will learn to accept any problems they have, those problems becoming your own. You will face the consequences of falling in love one day, simply because you get so attached to them. So attached that you can't bare to let them go."

That quote still haunts me, the law my mother lived by. The law that killed her.
