“Oh come on Athena! Don’t be mad at me!” Jason is currently following Athena through the thick forest. From his viewpoint, she’s storming over the crunchy grass with her arms crossed over her chest. After she had cleaned his neck wound and wrapped it in fresh bandages, she had repeatedly slapped him in fury. He had allowed her, knowing that tricking her would get him in a heap of trouble. He’s brought to a halt when Athena begins scaling a tree and feverishly climbing it with ease. He smirks as he readjusts the backpack on his shoulder. He quickly follows after her and perches himself next to her fuming form. She snaps her head away from him and crosses her arms tighter across her chest. Jason smiles slightly at her antics.
“Come on Athena. Don’t be mad at me anymore.” He nudges her cheek with his nose and he feels her involuntarily shiver under his touch.
“You scared me to death, Jason! How would you feel if I pretended that I was dying for my own amusement?” She huffs loudly. He contemplates her theory and he understands why she’s so angry. He wouldn’t be too happy with her either if she worried him that much.
“Can I at least have a kiss?” Jason asks happily as he rests his chin on her shoulder and begins peppering soft kisses on her smooth neck. She turns toward him and grabs his face with her chilling hands. He locks his lips onto hers and he’s rushed with a bolt of electricity through his limbs. Like an electric fence, his body is buzzing with life. He wraps his arms tightly around her petite waist as if any second from now she could vanish in midair. She lightly tugs on his hair as her lips form an ‘o’ shape allowing his tongue to scavenge the still foreign area. His tongue brushes hers and he moans into the warmth of her mouth. Then Jason feels it bubbling inside himself, that feeling that he knows he’s coming and it’s already too late to stop it. He rips his mouth off of Athena’s and begins prying at his locks of hair willing for him to go away. It’s too late though. He’s lost Jason for the time being and this blue-eyed monster is in his place. Causing destruction whichever path he takes.
Athena stares at Jason intently as he begins ripping at his hair and screaming obscenities.
“Jason?” She tries softly as she places a cautious hand on his shoulder. He roughly shoves her hand off when he turns and looks menacingly into her eyes. She feels a shortage of oxygen entering her lungs when she stares into piercing blue eyes rather than soft green ones.
“Jason? JASON?!” He spits out at her. She finds herself reflexively crawling away from this man and nearing the edge of the branch.
“Your stupid little boyfriend isn’t here anymore.” His threatening laughter fills her ears and Athena is left in a panic. Her eyes roam all of the obtainable escapes to get herself as far away from this man as possible.
“Leaving so soon?” He smirks before grabbing a strong hold on her forearm and yanking her small body towards his. She whimpers and grits her teeth against the pain throbbing in her arm.
“Please let me go.” Athena whimpers out using as much confidence as she can muster. This only causes him to painfully grip her arm tighter. She cries out in agony. She can almost feel her skin bruising underneath his relentless hold. Panic overrides her system and she feels herself having to put thought into breathing. Her brain must force her lungs to suck in air otherwise the message would not register. She can’t stay like this. She’s too close to passing out and she could never leave herself in the hands of this stranger. Lord knows what he’d do to her body. She needs Jason to come back to her. She needs her knight in shining armor to protect her from . . . himself.
“Jason! Please come back to me. I need you here more than ever. Please.” Athena gingerly whispers, afraid of angering this man. A flash of recognition flashes across his face before he bares his teeth in anger.
“Stop screaming! I can’t even think!” The man begins banging on his skull ridding himself of the nuisance inside of his head.
“Athena! Run! Get away from him!” He lifts his head as he screams and she sees his eyes shifting from blue to green then back and forth. The multi-colored eyes search her face pleadingly.
“I’m not leaving you Jason.” She states sternly. The man continues to fight his internal battle before he yells once more.
“LEAVE ATHENA.” He roars loudly. She cringes from the intensity of his voice. Jason has never yelled at her so fiercely. She takes once last look towards the crumpled man before plunging down towards the arena. A single tear slides down her cheek before she wipes it away and sprint away from her previous hiding spot. It shakes her core knowing that the damsel in distress is finally alone. Instead of being comforted by her prince charming, she’s running from him.
Jason jumps to a start to find that he’s leaning against tree bark high up above the ground. He scans his surroundings still resurfacing from his terribly deep sleep. He’s in a forested arena. The Hunger Games. He groans loudly when the memories of last night flood his mind like an unbearable reminder of his pestering condition that will stay with his for as long as he lives. Jason recalls getting attacked by their assigned threat of a teddy bear then having being saved by Athena- ATHENA! Where is she?! He frantically searches around the nearby proximities of his tree to find it a barren wasteland. He tries to recollect any memory of where she could have gone and realization slaps him across the face. Athena and he had been in the middle of a very heated make out session. He’s quite sure of it because his lower area wakes up just by the memory. He uncomfortably shifts his position on the branch and continues to dwell into his memories pushing aside his hormonal tendencies. He had gotten out of control and let him take over until he fell into that black abyss that he pushes him into every time he takes over. It’s as if Jason is locked behind a door; kicking, screaming and pleading to get out. He usually keeps a tight grip on the handle but it seemed like he was almost distracted yesterday. Jason was able to break the barrier down and scatter to the front of his brain alongside him. Both of them fought for dominance mentally pushing and shoving each other. Both of them screeching the designated words meant to be said separately. Athena had gotten frightened after he had screamed at her to leave. Jason felt a pang of guilt shoot through his chest remembering the saddened expression that had adorned her face before she left him. He’s glad she had left though. Who knows what the demon himself could have done to the love of his life if he had the opportunity. He can feel the anger boiling, suddenly rushing through his veins and heating his body instantly. He ruins everything. Jason continually rips at his hair relieving all of his built up ferocity.
“YOU RUIN EVERYTHING. LOOK WHAT YOU DID!” He cries out violently feeling the vocal cords in his neck scratch irritably. He lets out other screams all aimed at the inhabitant of his brain.
“GET OUT OF MY HEAD!” Jason yells uselessly. He can’t hear him but he knows if he could, he’d be smirking. Jason hates the bastard. He’s already made a picture of what he’d look like in person. Blond hair that sticks out in different directions, disgustingly dark black eyes that suck out the soul, pale skin, and a signature smirk that he’d use to get whatever he wanted. Jason’s exact opposite. That’s exactly what the Capitol had in mind.
