"Get it through your tiny bat brain! If you hurt one of my friends I will make you regret it, even if it takes a thousand years! But I will never, never, be one of you."

"We'll see."

That's when Jesse sunk his fangs right into Ethan's arm. He collapsed on the floor in pain, shaking. Benny ran in,"ETHAN!" "Now, either you become one of us, or he does," Jesse said, before flying out of the room.

"ETHAN!" Sarah screamed out as she ran over to him. She kneeled down and grabbed his arm. "No..." Ethan weakly said. He yanked his arm away, while Sarah sat there in shock. "Ethan I don't want you to live like this, it's not truly living!" Ethan's eyes started tearing up,"Sarah, if you do this you will lose your last cling on humanity, I'm not letting you do this." Sarah started crying,"Please let me do this before it's too late." Ethan started crying too,"Sarah, I'll be fine."

That's when Ethan passed out, and Sarah realized it was too late to save him.

He was now a fledging, like her.

Ethan woke up in his bed feeling fine, great actually. He got up to go to the bathroom, just to see his reflection fade in and out. That's when he just remembered the night before, he was no longer human.

He walked downstairs to be greeted by Benny's grandma. "Benny told me everything, so I brought you these substitutes," she told Ethan as she gave him a box of cardboard juice boxes. "So...I became a werewolf...and a vampire...all in the same year?" Ethan asked. Benny laughed,"Do you want to put that in your autobiography?" Ethan rolled his eyes.

The door flung open, Ethan looked over to see Sarah running to him. She wrapped her arms around his shoulders and whispered,"I'm so sorry." He replied,"don't be, this was my choice."

They then heard a thump coming from upstairs and before they knew it Rory was standing in front of Ethan. "Can I see your fangs?" He asked with excitement. "Rory!" Sarah yelled. Ethan looked at Sarah and said,"no it's okay." Just then Ethan's flat teeth turned sharp. "AWESOME!" Benny and Rory yelled at the same time. "Ow, I bit the bottom of my lip," Ethan said.

The next day at school Ethan closed his locker, just to see Benny standing there. "So my new soulless friend of the night, how are you feeling?" Benny asked. Ethan replied with,"hungry." Benny looked confused,"I thought my grandma gave you those substitutes?" Ethan shook his head,"They taste like your gym locker."

Ethan then smelled something that he wanted to drink, he looked over to see Erica with a Dusk cup.

"Sarah, one drink and it's all yours."

"No Erica! Ethan sacrificed his humanity for me! If I drank that it would all be pointless!"

Sarah turned her head to see Ethan staring at them. "Erica, put that away, you're tempting him!" Erica smiled and walked over to Ethan.

"Hello vampgeek, you see Sarah over there? Drink this and you can be with her forever," Erica said as she slowly shook her cup.

Ethan was very tempted, but wouldn't give in so easily. "She's a fledgling like me." Erica chuckled,"You both don't have to be." Ethan, while still feeling tempted, shook his head no.

"Erica stop it!" Sarah yelled. She snatched the cup out of her hand and threw it in the nearest trash can. "THAT WAS MY LUNCH!" Erica hissed. She went to go dig her cup out of the trash can while Ethan and Benny walked to class.
