“Thanks,” I took the money and shoved it in my bag.
I shot the man one last look before turning around and walking to my car. I threw my bag on the passenger's seat and started the car as I hopped in. I backed up from his driveway and sighed.
Saying that I was exhausted would be an understatement. Having to return home after an entire night of work; the work I didn't even like, was indeed very exhausting. The only reason I continued was because I was the only one in my family who had the burden of taking care of them. They never respected me, but it was what I deserved. They only lived off my money, but never complimented me or even thanked me. As a matter of fact, all they did was argue and ramble about how useless I am.
I hated having to return to a family like that. My mother stayed home and did all the chores. Usually it was my mother who complained about how she alone did everything in the house and no one ever helped her. My father was in a wheelchair, missing a leg since his former client chopped his leg off for stealing all their money.
I also had siblings. An older brother who was good for nothing, had no job, and stayed in his room all day. I also had two little sisters, who were actually twins. They all relied on me and yet, even though they did no effort to bring some money in the house, they still made me feel like trash.
I never told them what job I have and I doubted I ever would. They needed the money and not my secrets.
I closed my eyes for a second and took a deep breath, trying not to fall asleep. I hated this. I hated this so much, I almost wanted to jump off a cliff. There was no doubt that a the pressure I was under only pushed me towards an endless pit of depression.
After about ten minutes of driving, I finally reached my house and parked the car in the garage. I took my bag and got out, going straight for my room. My brother tried stopping me, but I only ignored him.
I needed a shower.
I hid my money in the small secret drawer I made behind my closet and went to the bathroom. Taking my shower, my mind started wandering. I had so much more money to save up in order to finally get rid of the debt my father drowned me into. I knew I would work until the day I die, even with the work I was doing.
I got out of the shower and wrapped the towel around my wet body. I walked back to my room, releasing a heavy sigh. I dried myself and instead of wearing my clothes, I just jumped on the bed naked, pulling the covers over myself.
A smile crept on my face as I closed my eyes, ready to drift into a deep sleep, but the beeping of my phone startled me. Groaning I checked the messages. My eyes grew wide and I nearly fainted as I read the text message.
