the end of Sophomore year

Ninas pov

   I slammed my locker shut and leaned against it. I huffed, looking over at the couple across the hall. I want a boyfriend. I mean, in all my 15 years of life, I've never had one. Not necessarily by choice either.

   "Hey, perk up. It's the last week of school. Next year is all new begginings." My bestfriend Alyssa chirped, looking the direction i was. She stuffed her backpack inside her locker, grabbed some folders and gently closed it. I put my arm on her shoulder, "You just keep thinking that way, Aly, but i know if i tell myself ill get hotter over the summer i'll just end up disappointed."

   She rolled her eyes. My arm linked with hers as we strode down the hall. Alyssa. Alyssa was another story. She was the school hottie and could attract any guy within a 50 mile radius.

   "Wheres Zach?" i asked looking around. Zach was our other bestfriend...possibly, maybe my crush...okay...more than that. I was in love with him. I have been since 7th grade, but he didn't need to know that. She shrugged, "probably running late like always."

   I giggled, leaning on her. "Next year's gonna be amazing." she mumbled in my ear. "Yea." i stared at the ground. "Isn't it my favorite couple!?" i heard him yell. Then, theres zach. What can i say about Zach besides he's hot, has a great personality, and popular, but he doesn't hang out with them

   We both spun around. "Isnt it my favorite douchebag?" she spit back, walking up and hugging him. i rolled my eyes. "You know you love me." he smirked. "Of course i do."

   "Well, we've got algebra 2 first, so exuse me and my girlfriend." Aly pushed him away and pulled my wrist towards class. "Why do I feel like im being ignored?!" he shouted after us. "You said it! Not me!" She shouted back

   By the end of the end of the day, im over school. I want it to be summer.

   The last class of the day, no one is with me. Im all alone. I walk out of class and find our table, only for it to be full. Zach and Aly are sitting together and i can feel my heart tense. Dont be jealous, I told myself.

   I snuck around Zach, covering his eyes, "guess who?"

   "The love of my life?" he asked.

   He turned around, "nope. Just Nina."

   "I am hurt." i really was. I put my hand to my chest. He chuckled, "come here." i sat down next to him, on the opposite side of Aly.

"So summers gonna be fun!" I smirked at Aly as we walked home.

   "its gonna be so lit this!" she grinned. I couldn't help myself.

   "Do you like him?" i asked.

   "What do you mean?" she stopped.      

   "Do you like Zach?" i looked her in the eye.

    She looked down..."i dont know. Do you?"

   "I dont know...i think he likes you.  He pays way more attention to you."

   "if i were to like him and he somehow liked me, That wouldn't change anything, right? Between us?"

   "Why would it?"

   We keep walking. "I just...i don't want feelings to get in the way of our friendships."

   "Whos friendship are you talking about?"

   "All of ours." We both were looking at the ground. "Oh...don't worry."
