"Life, death, and rebirth. These are the key concepts that define us." Dally stated, it wouldn't be long until somebody would through a rock or a pine cone at him. I honestly didn't really care about what he was saying, all I really wanted to do is go mess around or play with someone. He may be the one who is suppose to teach us the way of the wolves, but I don't really find it interesting to say the least. "Lunaria, are you even listening?" Dally questioned, "Um... what?" I said confused. All the other young wolfs looked me and laughed, "Lunaria, we're going to have a talk after class." Dally claimed. I looked down and felt my ears flatten against my skull, "Sorry Dally, it won't happen again." I apologized. He continued with his lecture and I felt boredom take it's course, luckily it wasn't too long after class was over. I left the cave and headed towards my secret place, but I heard someone running up behind me and stopped. "Lunaria, I told we were going to talk after class." Dally reminded, "What's there to talk about." I retorted. He scowled at me and shook his head, "I've noticed lately that you haven't been paying attention." He pointed out. I stayed quiet I really had no excuse and if I'm lucky he will just walk away, "How do you think your father will react after hearing that his daughter doesn't want to learn the way of the wolfs?" Dally asked. Aw Dang, I hate when he brings my father into this. "I'm better off being a hunter for the pack." I claimed, "Is that what your father wants?" He quizzed. I held my tongue, all my father want's is for me to sit down all day and do boring stuff like making sure the elders are taken care of. I don't care if Dally is older he has no right to tell me what to do, and if he doesn't realized that he should really watch who he is talking to. "Argh,! Just leave me alone!" I snapped, he backed up and I ran off out of sight. I ran to my secret spot and sat down, at least this is a place I could be alone at.
I sat there for a while reminiscing the past when dad spent more time with me, because of this new stupid mate of his I have to deal will this stupid unneeded class. It 's actually more like a meeting with other young adolescent wolves like myself, and of course a boring adult. In the old times when I was just a pup, dad and I would go and play in the woods. But ever since the death of mom, dad seemed more distant then ever and after awhile I felt alone like I was stuck in a dark hole that I couldn't dig out of. There have been many nights where I was alone and no one ever bothered to talk with me, in other words I was the outcast. Unlike my new sister, Star, I never was spoiled and I never had anybody pamper me. I got used to being alone after awhile, but it made me more hostile to the others with all the anger I locked up inside. My fears held me back and kept me from trying to make friends, also the fact that Star blames me for all the packs problems like shortage of prey. The pack started to believe I was a bad omen, a curse from the gods. I try so hard to prove them wrong, but it never works out and soon enough I started to believe that they were right. I look at my secret spot and watched the small water fall slowly draining into the pond, it was quite and calming. Even the chirping of cricket where welcoming, in fact I even I had my own little treasure cave right behind the water fall. I looked down at my reflection in the water, my purple eyes glimmered from the sunlight reflecting off of the water. My smooth pitch black fur glistened from the rays, but that's just it. The rumor of me being a curse started with the fact that I was the only one with purple eyes and because of my bad luck, along with many other false statements. I heard a stick snap and looked up, there was a doe and it was just standing there. She lowered her head and started to drink the water, surely it would be an easy catch. I got up slowly and got ready to attack, until two fauns walked up by the doe and I conclude that was their mother. I slowly sat back down and decided to let her live, because I didn't want to ruin the fauns' life like mine when I lost my mother. If it where any other wolf, they would be dead and lucky for them it was just me.
I felt like I didn't want to leave, but I knew I had to if I didn't want dad to yell at me. I got up and walked towards home, while walking I noticed a rabbit and went down into a hunting stance. I quietly approached it and started to count, three, two, one, now! I leaped onto the rabbit and bit it's skull which killed it instantly, then I carried it towards home. I felt proud of myself and continued through the crowed of wolves, none of them seemed to notice the dead rabbit in my mouth and I didn't care. I finally arrived to the den and walked inside, as I approached the others with my kill they seemed to be angry. I put the rabbit down on the ground and asked, "What's going on?" My dad looked at me and at my kill, "We were just talking about the food shortage." Dad replied. I felt nothing, but I still wondered why they were still going on about it. "So tell me the details, maybe I can help." I offered, my dad's new mate glared at me and I ignored her. "Well you see, the food in our territory has become scarce and we believe it isn't because of the weather." Dad admitted, "Well that's obvious, it's the green season food should be everywhere." I answered. Dad shook his head and sighed, "That's problem, we shouldn't be running out of food." Dad agreed. I thought about it for a moment, "What if we extended the territory? That would give us more hunting grounds and more chances to find prey." I purposed. Nixy (my dad's new mate) looked at me angrily, "I think the problem is her, she is obviously the reason why this is happening." She snarled. This again? Seriously how stupid can somebody get, she does this every time and it makes me want to attack her. I walked to the corner of the cave with my kill and started to eat it, nothing tasted better then a fresh dead rabbit specifically when I'm angry. I finished my food and started to fall asleep, until I was awakened by these voices. I looked around and realized Dad and Nixy weren't in the cave, "Lunaria, Lunaria." The voices whisper. I felt my fur starting to stand up, "Who's there?" I question. "Lunaria, come with us. Follow us, Lunaria." They ushered, I slowly stood up on my four paws. The moonlight seemed to guide me and I followed it; as a result, I walked outside of the den. "Alright, what did you want me for." I asked, no response and then the wind picked up and caused my to look down out the grasslands below the cliff. "Do you see?" The voices gently quizzed, I looked for what they meant and that's when I saw it. I squinted my eyes trying to get a better look at it, then I realized it was a wolf unlike the ones I've seen. The stranger had an icy look to their fur, "Follow, follow." The voices commanded. I started to follow the foot path down to the grassland and kept listening for the whispers, "See the truth, be the bane, so all don't feel the pain." The voices chimed. I finally made it to where the stranger was standing, but they were gone and so were the voices. I took a step closer to the edge of the territory, do I follow the voices? What will dad say?
