Leonard's POV
I sat at my desk, working on my laptop. Sheldon of course sat in his spot on the couch, watching Star Trek : The Next Generation. Suddenly, the loud fighting noise the TV was making stopped. Sheldon said," Leonard, someone's at the door." "Sheldon, nobody is at the door. Stop being delusional.' I said, rolling my eyes and looking at him. "Well, I'm pretty sure I heard knocki-" Knock knock knock. "Neighbor or neighbors." Knock knock knock. "Neighbor or neighbors." Sheldon was cut off by the knocking of the door. 'I told you so." Sheldon said, a hint of a smile on his face. I looked back to the door with a confused look. I stood and opened the door, and looked around. Nobody was there. "Sheldon it was just a little prick." I called back, almost completely shutting the door. Almost. I heard a small cough and reopened the door, looking down.
There stood a little girl. "Hello there neighbor! I'm Maddie!" she said cheerfully, sticking out her hand for me to shake. I shook it with another look of confusion. "Wait. Neighbor?' I asked her. She smiled bigger. "Yes sir ree sir. I have the place right next to yours," she said, gesturing towards the door next to ours, "And who might you be sir?" "Sheldon! Get over here! Well, I'm Leonard and this is Sheldon." I said, gesturing toward the now-standing-next-to-me Sheldon. "A pleasure to meet you Maddie. Now please leave." Sheldon said, gesturing toward her door. I punched Sheldon in the arm, and he followed with a yelp of pain. "Come on in." I said, moving out of the doorway so she could come inside. She happily skipped inside with her luggage dragging behind her.
She sat down on the couch, or more specifically, in Sheldon's spot. Sheldon put on a face and shouted at me " Leonard she's in my seat tell her to get out of my- oh, thank you." I did a double take. She had hurriedly got up and moved to the other couch. I soon noticed that she had covered her ears first. I whispered in Sheldon's ear, "I think her eardrums are sensitive to loud sounds. Please keep the yelling to a minimum." Sheldon nodded. I sighed with relief. Then she said something spectacular that made both Sheldon and I gasp. "Oh, whichever of you who did this about the changing space matter, I feel bad. You obviously have to carry the 3 over X in order to get an answer of 4xU, not 5xZ. Tsk, tsk. The math is all wrong here. " Then she added a bunch of numbers and letters to Sheldon's board, got an answer, and circled it. "There, that's better." she said, standing back to look over handiwork. Sheldon pushed her away and checked it over. A few minutes later, Sheldon turned back to me with awe and said," This is all correct." I looked back to Maddie, who said," What? I have already been to college and have my PhD and my Doctorate in theoretical physics." Sheldon's mouth dropped open. "Um, how old are you exactly?" I asked, still in awe and confusion. "Oh, I'm eleven." she stated proudly. A smile grew on my face as I turned to Sheldon, who was staring at me. "And I thought you were smart." I said.
