Those Three Words

Scott's POV

"I'll call Kirstie and Mitch over."I said to Avi and Kevin.They nod and play on their phones.

I dial Mitch's number and put the phone up to my ear."Hello?"I heard his voice.God his voice was a pleasant thing to here.

"Hey!Avi,Kevin,and I worked out the bass and beatbox for the new arrangement!Can you come over?"

"Sure!I'll be there in a few."

God he was amazing.I loved to see him everyday.His smile,his voice,everything about him I love.

But it won't happen.Mitch will never fall in love with me.

"Great!Can't wait to see you!"

"I can't wait to see you either!My day is always a joy when you're around."Mitch said through the phone.

My cheeks turn to a bright shade of red."Lovebirds."Avi laughed."Shut up,Avi."

"Make me."

"That can be arranged."

He pulls a superfrown onto his face and I just laugh."Scott?Are you still there?"Mitch said on the phone.

"Oh yeah!Sorry.Any who,I'll see you when you get here.I'm gonna go ahead and call Kirstie."

"Okay!Ciao!"

"Ciao!"

I hung up and dialed Kirstie's number."Hello?"She said.

"Hey!Avi,Kevin,and I are working on a new arrangement.Can you come over to help?"I asked.

"Sure!Did you call your lover?"Lover?Does she mean Mitch?

"Who,Mitch?"

"Duh!You have a thing for him.Maybe you should confess your feelings to him."

"I can't!He would think of me differently,Kirstie!"

"No he wouldn't!True friends accept you for who you are.Mitch is that true friend.Besides,you have to tell him sooner or later."

I sighed deeply and took the phone away from my ear to process what she just said.I put the phone back up to my ear.

"Okay.I'll tell him tonight.But,you owe me."

"Yippee!Thanks,Scott.I'll see you in a few."

"No problem.I'll see you in a few."

I hung up wuth Kirstie.I sat down on the couch next to Avi."Kirstie's right,Scott.You have to confess your feelings to Mitch.And soon."Kevin said.

I cocked my head towards him."Were you eavesdropping on mine and Kirstie's phone call?"

"Yeah.So was Avi."He said while pointing at Avi."I don't know if I can even tell him,guys"I groaned.

"Tell him when you are ready."Avi smiled and patted my back.I hear a knock on the door."That must be your lover."Kevin joked.

I got up and walked towards the door.I opened it up and saw Mitch.But he wasn't smiling.His eyes had tears falling from them,his hair was messed up,his shirt had multiple holes in them.

"Mitch!What happened?!"I yelled.

I pulled him in and he cried into my shirt."Please...save me."He said into my chest."I will.I'll save you,Mitch.I'll be your Superman."I hugged him tightly to give him a sign he's safe.

Kirstie walks up to the house and runs up to us."What happened to Mitch?!"She yelled.

"I don't know."

Mitch let go and walked to the couch.I followed him and hugged him once more.

"I was in the apartment.Kirstie left after our little movie night.I heard a knock at the door.I thought it was Scott,"Mitch paused.

"But it wasn't."

He sighed deeply and dried a tear from his left eye."A man broke in and slapped me.He beaten me.I have bruises on my arm to prove it."He said.

Mitch took his jacket off and showed the purple and blue bruises on his arms.I didn't bother to try and stop the tears falling from my eyes.

"We'll let you stay the night here.I'll call the police."Kevin said and got the phone and dialed 911.

He tells 911 the address and tells them what happened to Mitch."Thank you."He said and hung up.

I hugged Mitch and I didn't bother to let go of him.

"I'll protect you,Mitch."I whispered.

He looked up at me with gleaming eyes.I stood up and walked Mitch to the guest bedroom.He fell on the bed and took his shirt off."I deserve this.I'm a nobody.Now I can see why Travis broke up with me."He sobbed.

"That's not true.You're an amazing person,Mitch.Travis was a jerk for breaking up with you.You were too good for him."

He smiled some and stood up.

I have to tell him.I just have to."Mitch,I have something I need to say to you."I said.

He walked towards me and says,"What is it?"

I sigh deeply and frown."Please don't let this change things between us.I don't want this to ruin our friendship."I said.

"Mitch,I love you."
