The Voices

I stayed up on my phone texting my girlfriend while trying to go to sleep. I yawned once I started to feel tired and texted my girlfriend goodnight. I put my phone on the charger and turned it off. I pulled the covers up, and started to doze off.

Once I felt sleep was seconds away, I heard what sound like a voice. I opened my eyes, and looked around. I found nothing though. I shook it off, and went back to sleep.

The next morning, I woke up and went to go get breakfast. I got dressed, and headed out the door. After getting in the car, I heard some voices again. I looked around, and again, found nothing.

I sighed, shook my head, then drove off. All the time while driving I heard the voices again. This time though, they didn't stop. They kept on going.

I pulled over, and held my head. What are these voices? Where are they coming from? As the voices got louder, I covered my ears. They won't stop. Why won't they stop?

I shook my head again, and drove off while trying to ignore the voices.

A week had gone by and I got no sleep. The voices were still here. This time, I can hear what they are saying. They tell me to do things I don't want to do. Such as kill the people close to me, or leave my girlfriend. But no matter how much they tell me, no matter how much I hear them, I don't listen to them. I wouldn't listen to them. I will never, listen to them.

Two weeks had go by and I still hear the voices. I feel like I'm going crazy. I can't eat, I can't sleep. These voices just won't stop. They won't stop. I held my ears and rocked back and forth. "Stop stop stop!" I yell. They didn't though. They just won't stop.

Three days had gone by and I can no longer take it. I was now standing on the edge of a tall building, looking down at the ground far below me. I took a breath in, and stepped forward.

They told me to do it. The voices said to do it. And for once, I listened.
