Harry and Ron looked at each other and passed a small smirk when they saw Hermione glaring at Snape. Of course, Snape didn't notice that, but the boys did and they found it very funny.Ron still wondered why Hermione had been crying the previous day. When he had asked Ginny, she had given him a dirty look and had walked off to hold hands with Dean.Well he still didn't like it when his little sister went around snogging the faces' off of people. oh well, he would deal with it later, right now his attention was stuck on a girl with bushy hair.
Once Hermione caught sight of Snape, she was reminded of his taunt the previous day, and glared at the back of his head.Once Snape moved away, her eyes met Ron's eyes and she noticed the grin on his face. Oh lord. That grin.
She couldn't bring herself to grin back at him, and immediately averted her eyes.
Ron felt hurt when he saw Hermione ignore his grin (that was a sign of truce okay?) and turn away. Why was she angry at him?! She had never been so angry at him!
well except for the time when he had had that horrible fight with her at the Yule Ball.
*flashback*
Ron looked at Hermione's periwinkle dress, and her hair. She looked so different. So..girly. He had never seen Hermione like this.
His fists unconsciously clenched as he caught sight of Viktor Krum's hand on her waist.
Well, he should have been happy! His best friend and his Quidditch god were dancing together.
Hermione's happy smile made him smile a little and then his eyes zeroed in on Krum's expression.
WELL NOW. Krum looked too cosy. With a jolt, Ron realized what Krum was doing! He was trying to get close to Hermione, so that he could get to Harry!
Oh that son of a *****! Why else would he ask Hermione to accompany him to the ball? Krum didn't look like his Quidditch god anymore. He looked like a filthy arse who took advantage of girls. Ron's blood began to boil as Hermione smilingly hugged him and started to walk over to their table.
"Reckon he's taking advantage of her?" he snarled at Harry, who just sighed wistfully. Ron followed Harry's line of sight and found Cho Chang and Cedric Diggory dancing together. Hermione walked over to the table, where her two best friends were sat together. She couldn't believe how amazing the evening had been!
She couldn't remember a moment when Viktor hadn't made her smile with his funny jokes, or made her blush with his intellectual compliments.
At one point of the night, she had found Ron looking at her with such intensity that she had turned the color of Parvati Patel's robes. OH YES.
Her efforts had been fruitful. She was full of joy and felt very happy. As she neared the table, she caught sight of Harry's frown and Ron's thunderous expression.
All at once, the night didn't seem so good. Was she so busy having fun, that she forgot about having fun with her best friends? Still keeping a smiling face, she plopped down on the seat next to Harry and smiled at him.
Ron looked on, as Hermione smiled at Harry, enthusiastically. "It's hot isn't it? Viktor's gone to get us drinks! would you care to join us?" she sounded slightly out of breath, and happiness lined her tone. it enraged him even more. Harry opened his mouth to speak, but he was cut short by Ron's angry words.
"Oh has he now? No we won't join you! why don't you go and enjoy with dear Vickie?" Ron spat out, unable to control himself. He regretted his words as soon as he saw the smile fade from her lips, and a dim sparkle lit up in her eyes, indicating that he had hurt her. But it was already late. He wouldn't take his words back for anything in the world. Hermione might have been the brightest witch of her age, but she had no idea how bright guys could be, especially famous Quidditch players.
Hermione's head hurt on hearing Ron's spiteful words. "What's got your wand in a twist?" she whispered, feeling her anger rise. "You don't see what's happening do you?! he's taking advantage of you!" Ron hissed, and Hermione felt like slapping him. What was wrong with him?! "Taking advantage??!?" she said, dubiously. "Harry agrees with me, don't you Harry?" judging from Harry's expression, even Harry thought it was the silliest thing he'd ever heard. "You're-Yo-You're fraternizing! With the enemy!" Ron said, his voice getting loud and defensive.
Hermione sensed an argument coming up, and chose to leave at that moment, leaving Ron flustered and angry.
