"Nicole, darling! Dinner's ready!" I heard my mother call from the large back deck. The bright pink and purple flowers stood out beautifully from the light grey wood.
I was currently sitting on the beach, about a hundred yards away from the back of the house.
We lived on the beach, and it was gorgeous out here.Huge land, bright open ocean, the salty wind blowing through my hair; tangling it up.
I sighed happily with a pretty grin. This is the life.
I grinned back at my mother watching her look out at me.
The wind blowing her shoulder length brown curly hair, her blue eyes staring me down peacefully, while her white and blue vintage flower patterned apron blew in the breeze.
Her pink button up shirt went to her skinny waist, as her white pants glowed brightly from the sunlight hitting them, while she was holding a medium large sized bowl in her hands with a spatula.
I'm guessing she was mixing something up."Coming mother!" I yelled back to her loudly so that she could hear me.
I stood up, brushing the sand off of my high waisted light blue shorts, as the wind whipped around my white shirt that went above my waist. In the distant I could hear cannon shots beyond the waters. I shrugged it off after giving a concerning look out at the sea.
The waves crashed loudly against the sand as I shook my head of the thought.I ran up to the back of the house and jumped onto the deck, then walked past the sliding glass doors and into the air conditioned house.
Us people who lived on the ocean were pretty wealthy, so we got to have a nice big houses down here.
The only problem is, once a year the Pirates like to visit for money.
And lately, it's been becoming a problem.
They have been rummaging throughout people's homes, stealing a things, killing citizens of the town, and burning things with torches and even shooting cannons. The Pirates break into homes and even steal children or rich families for themselves. And who knows what they do with them.
I shivered at the thought and sat down smiling at my mother and father who were sitting at the wooden table, with the places set with plates and silverware; ready to eat.
I sat down and grinned at my plate of food that was made for me by my lovely mother as she set the bowl down she had been previously mixing, then sat down as well.
"Alright! Dinner is finally ready!" She sung happily as I crinkled my nose lightly with a grin."Let's eat." My father said with a grin after my mother preformed a small prayer.
"I heard cannons again out at the sea. I wonder what that means.. I hope it isn't going to happen again." I frowned slightly at the thought of the Pirates taking over once more.
My parents exchanged looks to each other but then sighed.
"I'm sure it'll be alright. After all, it's just cannons, it could be anybody." My father reassured us, though I knew he was doubting himself."So did you have fun down at the docks today?" My father asked me curiously trying to change the subject while taking a forkful of food.
I nodded taking a sip from my cold glass of water.
It felt nice to feel cool air and drinks touching my skin after the scorching heat of the summer air outside all day.
