"Hell is empty and all the devils are here"
~William Shakespeare~
“LEGACYYYY are we there yeeet?” Roselynn whined at me.
I rolled my eyes, but I was getting tired of driving as well. We were both college dropouts, but not quite. We were still both twenty-one. It had been eight hours and we’d each taken two hour shifts. Lucky me got the last two hours or so. yay.
“No Rose, we aren’t.” I sighed and turned on the music.
“C’mon, lets just sing along till we get there yeah?” I turned it up and Om&m blasted out from the speakers.
She immediately went rocker mode and started singing along to Identity Disorder. I laughed and started singing along with her, both of us head-banging. It went on like this for another forty-five minutes, and as we had just switched the CD to Pierce the Veil, I noticed that we were finally driving on a dirt road, just about to pass the house we were going to.
“GAH! There it is Ro!”
She stopped what she was doing and screeched,
“TURN INTO THE DRIVEWAY YOU DUMMY!”
I turned sharply and pulled up, as the car screeched to a halt we looked at each other grinning and breathing hard.
Rose’s eyes were sparkling. “That was insane. Let’s do it again!” She breathed.
I just started laughing, and she joined me after a moment, and for about five minutes we just sat in the car hysterically laughing.
“Alright. We should get our things inside.” I suggest, and step out.
As Rose was getting out, I stretched my legs, and arms, and pretty much everything, all the while, making a sound that somewhat resembled a dying whale and a walrus. Yeah, Not a nice sound. I heard Ro laugh, and rolled my eyes.
“You’re not any better woman!” I exclaimed. It’s true, her sounds are actually worse. I walked behind my ‘67 Chevy Impala and opened the trunk to get our stuff out.
I heard a splash, and a “crap!” and I didn’t even need to look up to see what had happened. I burst out into laughter as Rose stood up muttering to herself.
“It seems as though you’re having a bit of misfortune with that puddle. I don’t think it likes you.” I smirk up at her.
“Shut up.” She grumbles she shuts the door and comes around back to join me.
She talked while she grabbed her bags, “Do you think this house is really haunted? Cause that would be cool.”
I looked up at her and gave my best answer. “I don’t know. Maybe. But we’ll cross that bridge when we get there.”
“If we even get there” I muttered under my breath.
We walked up to the big wooden doors and sighed simultaneously.
“This is it. We’re finally doing this. I’m just surprised that this house is still in California. I mean, A house like this in Cali? Not bloody likely. But, here we are.” Rose said, still facing the door.
I grinned and pushed it open. “Yeah. Let’s do this.”
