I woke up in a cold hospital room, in some stiff uncomfortable sheets. I looked around curiously as I didn't remember a thing. I sat up, noticing a mask on my face helping me breathe. There was nobody else in the room, but I looked to the left of me to see a very thin wall, almost like fabric. I sat up in my bed and examined the room further. There was a bathroom in front of me, but the room was barren and blank, except for a clock and a calendar.
The calendar was strange though, it didn't mark the months, the date, or the year, it just said 'Day 1' and all of the other days after.
I lifted the sheets off and grabbed the device that was pumping something into my veins, only to notice that my legs were too weak to stand. I stumbled on the ground before catching myself and holding on to the device to walk. I slowly inched towards the door, and looked out of the window. It looked like an ordinary hospital outside. I stumbled back over to my bed, trying to remember something about who I was or how I got here.
I sat back down and flung the sheet back over my body as I waited for someone to greet me. After an hour or so, a woman came in with a clipboard dressed as a doctor.
I looked up at her curiously as she examined my eyes, ears, heart beat, etc. She jotted down notes with an expensive silver pen and left, without another word.
I sighed, already feeling the loneliness that surrounded me. I thought that I could just explore the room for any clues as to who I was. Then I remembered that the lady had not locked the door when she left. A little bit of fresh air wouldn't hurt me, so I stood up and caught myself with the device once again. I wobbled towards the door and grabbed the handle. I pushed down and opened the door, smelling the strange aroma outside of my room.
I stepped out into the hallway to notice I was still completely alone. I looked to my left and right, only to notice a dead end on the left, so I turned and went right instead. The taps on the ground from my cold bare feet echoed in the blank hallway as I walked.
I checked the doors on my way forward, until I came to one with people talking inside. I watched them carefully as they spoke with one another.
Then one noticed me, causing my eyes to pop in surprise. I turned quickly trying to go back to my room before the doctor from before came out. She grabbed my arms forcefully, and pushed me back to my room before shutting the door and locking it.
I sat down on the bed, alone once again feeling anxious about everything around me. I blinked a few times before noticing that I hadn't even remembered my own voice.
I took a deep breath, and began to speak.
"Hello..?" I said, as I didn't know what else to say to myself, knowing I was alone.
Suddenly I heard a manly, deep voice come from the wall on my left. I put my ear up to it and repeated what I had said just a moment ago.
"Who are you?" The voice echoed through my small room. I gasped, as I actually heard another humans voice.
"I- I don't know..." I said, only speaking the truth.
"Oh, do you know where I am?" He spoke softly, with hope very obviously apparent in his voice.
"I can't tell you where you are if I don't even know where I am." I replied with a sigh.
"Oh..." He paused, "Can I give you a name?" He asked, surprising me.
'I suppose it would help me if I had someone to talk to, wether they were real or not.' I thought to myself.
"Okay, what do you want to call me?" I said, continuing the conversation.
"I'll call you.. Tzuyu." I gasped quietly as the name was wonderful, and the closest to an actual name I've ever had that I know of. "Do you like it?" He asked.
"I love it. What's your name?" I spoke.
"Oh, I don't have one either." He laughed, noticing we seemed to have a lot in common.
"Oh, I think I'll call you Taehyung then." I replied happily. "It was the name of my friend from before." I spoke without even knowing what I had said.
"Friend..?" Taehyung questioned curiously.
"I don't know, it just came out. I didn't mean to say that." I replied, worried about what I had said and if it had anything to do with how I got here.
"Oh, that's strange." Taehyung said.
We continued talking, about the similarities of our room, my adventure into the hallway, and the doctors that had entered our rooms.
It was odd to say the least, that we had both done the same things, and everything had happened at the same time. We told each other about the dead end in the hallway, they were just on separate sides. Mine on the left, his on the right.
Nothing seemed to be matching up. Not that we could tell at least. We came to the agreement of waiting, to see what happens next.
