"Welcome ladies and-"
"It's literally just you and me in here," Lily said, interrupting Ayla's announcement.
"As I was saying," Ayla continued, "Welcome to the new game show called uh... called... 100 Floors, 10 Questions, 1 Answer."
"Wow that name sounds like it took a long time to come up with and definitely wasn't made up five seconds ago," Lily remarked with a sarcastic smile.
Ayla continued to talk in her host voice, completely ignoring the other girl's comment. "The objective of the game is to get out of the elevator. To do so, you must answer just one of the ten questions you are asked. Want to get to the 100th floor?"
"There only 55 floors in this building."
"Want to get to the top floor? Then play 100 Floors, 10 Questions, 1 Answer!" Ayla happily cheered.
"What happens if the contestant answers all of the questions?
"Then they get the key to my heart," Ayla whispered with a wink. "Kidding," she added after a short pause. "So who's ready to play?"
"I suppose if I ever want to get out of here, I am," Lily answered unenthusiastically.
"That's the spirit!"
With that comment, Lily let a smile slip. She didn't want want to admit it but she enjoyed this. Not the game show so much as just being with Ayla. A part of her is happy that they are hanging out tonight, but another part of her wants to protect herself. Ayla probably thought of tonight as a one time thing. A last goodbye before high school ends and they never see each other again. Because of that, Lily knew she needed to protect herself, her emotions in particular. She can have fun, but not enough fun where she'll feel lost when Ayla leaves again.
"Now for the questions," Ayla said, bringing Lily out of her thoughts. "Question one: If you could be stuck in an elevator with anyone in the world, who would it be?"
"A question every good elevator game show should ask," Lily smirked.
"Well of course," Ayla smiled back. "Question two: Why did you come to my house today?" Ayla paused for a moment before lifting an eyebrow. "No sarcastic remark?"
"Nope."
"Darn, I like those. Moving on, question three: Do you still have the friendship ring I gave you? After all, you know I still have mine."
"Next question, please," Lily quickly pleaded, she had almost been able to erase their awkward moment from earlier tonight regarding the ring out of her head.
"Question four: What happened to the moon toy you had? You know the one you had in your room-"
"Yes, I know which toy you're talking about," Lily interrupted.
"You never had it in your room after I woke up from my coma," Ayla stated. All Lily did to respond was purse her lips and shrug. That question likely wasn't going to be the one Lily answered. "Question five: What's the best memory you have?"
"I've never liked that question."
"Why is that?" Ayla asked.
