It was dark. He knew by the way he was oriented he was probably lying on the ground but he couldn't feel his limbs and he didn't know what was going on. Everything was silent for minutes and Daniel tried to figure out what was happening then like a strong wind his senses came back. The taste of bile filled his mouth and there were lights flashing somewhere off to his left...His left arm was pinned under him in an awkward position and there was pain moving up from it. He heard voices but they seemed as if they were muffled and he couldn't even make out what they were saying. He tried to twist his head to see what was around him and then memories started to return, him and his Dad in their car then something happened and Daniel couldn't remember what it was. As he looked around he met with the most horrific sight, his father's face was looking towards him and it was shrivelled as if the life had been sucked from him. Daniel tried to speak but his tongue seemed to weigh a ton, he knew that his father was probably not alive but he wanted to ask to go against what he knew to be true in the hope that his father was alive. He saw movement behind his father and hoped it was someone who would help, someone who would help him and comfort him. He kept hoping that whatever was moving around the crashed car would help him until he lost consciousness.

When he finally woke up Daniel felt warm and much better than he had been moments ago. He couldn't open his eyes but by the slight beep sound that kept coming off from his right he guessed that he was in a hospital. He could feel his limbs but they were heavier than ever before. His eyes became lighter and he opened them slightly such that he could only see blurred figures but this was good enough for him and he saw about three figures moving around his bed. Two of the figures wore blue why one that moved less than the others wore white. Daniel continued to open his eyes till he could much better than before and the white figure became clear to him and he saw that it was a female doctor who was asking the male and female nurses that were on either side of the bed questions . "He seems stable now but you need to keep checking his vitals before we decide to move him from ICU," The doctor said without looking away from the clipboard she held in her hand, "And make sure you get someone to contact his next of kin to report that his father died in the crash and that he's here." The male nurse then spoke out then, "We were able to contact his home but they said that there was a murder that had happened says the wife was killed but they couldn't know how but that the brother from the father's side had found the body so he is heading this way after they have fully questioned him fully." Daniel's mind seemed to explode as he took in what the nurse was saying, how could his mother be dead as well? The beeping started to increase as he kept replaying the words in his brain and they started to sink in, the nurses and the doctor became frantic and started to move faster but Daniel seemed to sink away from them and he was almost far when he heard the beep turn into a continuous beep almost like the dial tone on a phone. He couldn't comprehend what was happening when he was jostled back to the room and everything was loud and there were more people in the room than there had been before. One of the newcomers held defibrillators and was looking at Daniel with stunned eyes. Daniel then discovered that he was sitting upright and he was holding the female doctor by the throat and she was almost choking .He then let her go and she breathed in deeply. All the others in the room looked at him with a hint of caution and some with pity. "Everyone leave now," the doctor said when she had taken a few deep breathes, "Except Beverly and Mike." She then looked at Daniel and seemed to gather herself before speaking, "Daniel, you have been involved in an accident with your father. I am sorry to tell you that your father did not make it, we found him dead already on the scene but you were still alive but greatly injured. You broke your arm and also your tibia and fibula were shattered but you will heal soon enough. You also suffered a severe injury to your head and a shard of metal imbedded itself in your ribs and pierced your left lung and we had to perform surgery. The lung is fine and did not require any attention after we had removed the shard but you had broken a rib when it twisted into your body. I just want to say that for people who was involved in an accident you have come around faster than others usually do," She stopped and looked at Daniel then went on, "I am also sorry to tell you that your mother passed away some hours ago." Daniel looked at her then when he tried to speak it felt as if someone was sawing through his throat and he seemed to rumble and then the doctor spoke again, "I'm sorry, I forgot to tell that you also got injured in your throat we aren't sure what it is but speaking may be very painful for a few weeks." That was it, Daniel just lay back and he started to take in what had just happened in his life in the hours that had just passed. A tear ran down his cheek and the doctor and nurses left him to himself.

Melissa Rosenberg was 42 years old and had never seen the things she had seen in the last five hours. She felt sorry for the boy that she had just left because he had lost both parents in two separate events and was left all alone in a traumatic situation. She checked his information table again and saw that he was thirteen years old and this caused her to feel more sympathy for him. Daniel was his name and he seemed stronger than most kids his age, she had personally experienced his physical strength when he had choked her early. At first she hadn't been shocked because she had seen it happen a few times when a person as defibrillated to life and they did a reflex action caused by the charge passing through the muscles. One man had made a peace sign after being defibrillated and Melissa had laughed at that but what Daniel had done was the scariest thing she had seen ever. Melissa was also thinking back to the OR where after they had removed the shard they had expected blood to gush out but the wound had clotted on its own and healed right before her eyes. She planned on going to see the operation footage to make sure she had seen right but she wasn't the only one as all the people present had stopped moving when it had happened but she was going to make sure that she had seen correctly. She checked her watch and it read 23:37 which meant that her shift was coming to an end and she would be able to finally go home and take a well-earned rest. It was Friday and she wasn't needed on duty till Monday unless an emergency got her called to work.

After doing her last rounds she went to the doctors' quarters and changed before heading home. She called a taxi because she didn't think she was able to drive with her level of fatigue. The taxi arrived ten minutes after she had called for it and she had already arranged for one of the other doctors to bring her car since they lived in the same neighbourhood. Melissa fell asleep in the taxi and dreamt of self-healing patients and broken bones joining together in seconds. The taxi driver woke her up when they had reached her home and she paid him more than she had to but was too tired to fuss over it and headed towards her house. She opened her door and was greeted by the sound of her husband's snoring in the living room and she went upstairs and found her daughter asleep. She then headed to her room and just fell on the bed in a wave of sleep that welcomed her.

The weekend passed in a flash with most of her Saturday spent sleeping and then her Sunday spent doing the normal family brunch with her husband's parents. When Monday arrived it seemed as if only a day had passed and she was reluctant to go back to the hospital. She arrived at the hospital for her 12 hour shift which started at 10:00 at 9:46 am. She did her rounds in the minor casualties ward before heading to the ICU to go and see if the boy Daniel was recovering well enough. She entered Daniel's room and found that there was another person in it so she asked the nurse Miranda where he had been sent and she was told he had been put in the ward for people who were soon to be leaving the hospital. This confused her because only two days had passed and he couldn't have healed in that time. She headed to the ward and found his room and he was there lying awake eating an apple and watching the Cartoon Network. He seemed perfectly fine and fitting for the ward he was in as he showed few signs that he had even been involved in an accident. The bandage that was supposed to be around his head had been removed and he was healed around his scalp. When he saw her standing in the doorway he looked at her and smiled then greeted her, "Hey!" His voice was hoarse but she was shocked as she had expected that the healing of his vocals would have taken time and that he might never have been able to speak again. Someone then cleared their throat from behind her and she turned to see who it was and found herself looking at a strongly built man and this was evident even through his suit. He had auburn hair that suggested that he might be of Irish descent, he also had a face that was befitting a person in their late twenties but he wasn't in that age range and that was obvious from the way he carried himself. "I'm sorry but I would like to see my nephew if you please," His voice was rich Irish and coarse but he executed his English fluently. She stammered her apology and moved out of his way and he passed. He held a cup of coffee and another of water which she assumed was for Daniel. She entered the room and checked Daniel's vitals and found they were normal. "He has healed terrifically in the last two days beyond what was expected and I believe he will be clear to leave after we have run a final MRI and a few X-rays. The uncle just nodded as he sipped on his coffee and Daniel didn't even seem to be in the room as he concentrated on the television. "He leaves tomorrow morning I have to take him to his aunt's in Britain three days from now she has decided to take care of him ," Mellissa was fascinated at how his 'r' seemed to rumble when he spoke . She couldn't think of anything else to say except, "Okay." She left the two and she didn't see them again after her shift had ended and she wouldn't see them for the next ten years but always remember the boy who had healed miraculously .She even had the X-rays framed and hung on her wall as she would tried to explain the phenomenon .
