The sun was shining through the small gap in the curtain and it had woken Minerva up. She got out of her bed and opened up the curtains letting in more light, the warmth played along her body like fingers sliding smoothly against her body. Minerva walked to the doors that led to the balcony of her room and opened them and a gust of wind blew into the room and pulled at her gown. As she stood there looking out on the grounds of her father's mansion, she felt at peace with everything but then that didn't last long because the peace was broken by the one person she loved and hated at the same time, her mother. "Minnie! MINERVA! Are you awake yet!?" Minerva's mother shouted. A knock at her door notified her that her mother had told the housekeeper to come and wake her. She went and unlocked the door and let in the maid,
"Good morning, Miss Minerva."
"Morning Maria," Minerva answered, "Where is my mother?"
"She is in the parlour but she is about to have breakfast with Mr. Douchebag, Miss."
"Perfect, could you do I a favour and tell Jeremy to get the car ready pronto?"
"Yes."
"I'll leave the key to my room with Catherine so you can clean later."
Minerva had already began changing by the time Maria left the room and she knew that if she wasn't fast enough her mother would come and check on her . Maria calling Gary Mr. Douchebag reminded her of Daniel because she had told the staff that is what they would now call Gary. At the time that she had done she had been happy to be reminded of Daniel but after he had not called her back the day before she did not want any memory of him.
Jeremy had the car ready when she got out the front door and as soon as she got in the car she knew that her exit window was closing because she heard her mother calling her name. As the car drove off Minerva saw her mother come out of the mansion shouting her name, "Please speed up Jeremy and go to Luigi's please," She told the driver. As they drove off from Long Island and towards the inner city Minerva checked her phone for the first time that morning and that is when she noticed the voicemail that Daniel had left, she played it and put the phone to her ear:
"Hey, it's me, Daniel, but you already know that ...umm...I wanted to apologise for not getting your calls, I was kind of out of cell range. I also wanted to tell you that I'm not in New York anymore I ...sort of flew out to Wisconsin. I am attending a course there so I won't be back there for a while. I will call you sometime later if I get the time. Bye."
Minerva was still a bit angry with Daniel but then she understood that he might have been on a plane when she called but she was still not sure how many people fly to Wisconsin after having reached the States the day before. She called him and his phone went to voicemail but she decided not to leave a message for him. The driver brought the car in front of a restaurant that was closed and wasn't showing any signs of opening that early in the day. Minerva got out of the car and went to the restaurant window and knocked on the glass and a young man came to the window and gestured for her to go to the door. The young opened the door and let Minerva in, "Hey Minerva, how are you?" The young man asked. Minerva said, "I'm great Junior, how is everything?"
"Same old, same old Minnie trying to keep up with my father and his business."
"And he's failing to do that," A voice spoke from the back of the restaurant, "I'm trying to groom him to run my business but he doesn't want to."
Junior leaned in and whispered into Minerva's ear, "I'm more interested in painting not restaurants and he can't accept that."
"You might be whispering but this is my restaurant and I hear all things," Luigi said, "You might be Italian but you are not Michelangelo."
