Dark History

"The Bruton Clan was a very powerful clan of magi who were known by all beings of the First Earth as the greatest magical warriors. A time came when the clan rebelled against the king of the time , King Stewart , this did not sit well with the king for he was known to be mentally unstable so he sought the eradication of the clan and ordered half of his army to go and destroy them. He sent his best magi , necromancers and even the best group of soldiers he had who were known as the Stormers to go along with the army . The battle between the Bruton clan and the king's army lasted a fortnight and the king lost the majority of his men except for a hundred soldiers and the Stormers . The Bruton clan surrendered when their store of knowledge was threatened by a Stormers attack . When the city in which the clan dwelt opened it's gates they found only children alive within , ranging between eight to fifteen years of age . The children had been fighting the king's army for several days and were under orders not to surrender unless their way of life was threatened . They had survived because they had been using Darker magic which was old and out of practice and the opposition had been unable to defend itself against such strong magic .The King on hearing of this decided to pardon the children of treason because he did not want word of the battle to spread and the children were said to have been hostages of the king and were sent to the king's court to live there under surveillance of the king . The city was given to the Stormers as a reward for their victory and that is when they began to study the magic of the Bruton clan . In the late 1300s war broke out and the kingdom in first earth was divided . King Stewart had been killed by his cousin , Ragar , who took the throne and many did not agree with this usurper's claim of the throne because Stewart had many brothers who were fit to rule . Ragar had all the brothers killed and he ruled with an iron fist throughout the whole of First Earth causing many people to dislike him . Years later a rumour emerged that a son of Stewart by an elven royal lady whom he was going to marry was gathering forces to fight against Ragar ,the son's name was Darius Mentha .Within a few months an army came to the capital and sought battle with Ragar who had also being preparing his forces for war ever since the rumour had reached him . War began and many of the common people sided with Darius for he had the better claim to the throne than Ragar so he was assisted throughout the war to avoid capture by the Army . A long time after the initial start of the war when both sides had become tired of fighting a parlay was called for the two sides to discuss division of the kingdom . The parlay did not go as it should have because Ragar had Darius killed and when those on his side heard of his death they surrendered and the war ended . Ragar became relaxed and no longer feared any rebellion and that was his mistake because a rebellion was brewing right under his nose . What Ragar had not known was that when he killed Darius he lost the Stormers because they had made magical oaths to live to serve the king but only an honourable king and in committing murder and oath breaking by killing at a parlay he had lost his honour .The rebels knew this and planned to use his vulnerability to their advantage . On the day that they planned to assassinate Ragar , he was imprisoned before the whole capital . He had been riding his horse through the capital when one of the courtiers riding with him called him a traitor , this insult caused Ragar to enter a fit of anger and challenge the courtier for his honour to which the courtier said he had none and right there before the eyes of the capital the courtier bound Ragar with magic and imprisoned him in another world . The Courtier declared the Monarchy ended and had Ragar's name removed from the record of kings and replaced it with that of Darius . That is why it is called the Darian era . The Great council was formed by the rebels who had planned to assassinate Ragar in the first place and they made the courtier the High Councillor or Protector . The Courtier left the council a year later and left the position to his cousin and the position became hereditary . It was known that the Courtier was a Bruton but little else was known about him except that he left the capital because he had done something but this was not known either . The Great Council is still in control of the First Earth and of all beings on this earth and it has been so for centuries .The Brutons were not very much active in the council but when things became very difficult or when it was believed that there were forces of evil within the council the Brutons were called in to deal with the situation thus they were known Fixers and they were very good at their job and very powerful because they were the only ones who still practiced old magic .No Bruton ever attended the academy because they always taught magic within their family . That is the history of the Bruton Clan that became the Bruton family ."
