Depression is a war
A battle against yourself
Every thought is a bullet
Every movement is a punch
Every word is a stab in the heart

Depression is a thief
It steals everything you once had
All that's left is what keeps you trapped

Depression is a zombie
You're alive but you're dead
You're alive but you wish you were dead
You're the living, breathing dead

Depression is a nightmare
You wake up into a hell
You're afraid of living
Everything seems impossible to bear

Depression is fear
Fear instilled in every bone, every fiber, every molecule
Constant fear, consistent enough to become a lifeline
When nothing else is there, fear is

Depression is an ocean
A sea of emotions
You're drowning everyday, desperate for anyone to notice
Waiting for someone to throw out a life saver
But no one comes to the rescue

Depression is darkness
Inky, overwhelming, suffocating blackness
You can't see anything
Not even your own reflection

Depression is a bottomless pit
Never ending pain
Never ending suffering
Never ending torture

There is no light at the end of the tunnel
There is no escape, no savior, no hope

Depression is a war
A battle against yourself
Surrender would be so easy...

Depression is a war
You either win
Or die trying
And I'm afraid to say I'm losing
