Technology vs age

The older you are the more it seems you don't understand technology, but is that really the truth?
One of my co workers who just finished their last year of high school came in to work and forgot that there was a meeting at one of our other locations. Another co worker, older mind you, looked at him and stated that he has a smart phone that has a calendar on it. The younger generations think they know all about the technology but really we are so blind to the fact that our phones are more than just Snapchat and Facebook. We all text rather than calling because it "saves time" but really if you call you can be done in under a minute and know what you needed. Most of us have this tech at our fingertips and we no longer know how to do the simplest things and more.
The other day I went to lunch with my sister and our two cousins. All three of them were on their phones and worst still they were snapchating each other. I looked over to this table with a older couple and I see them having a really conversation. We lose this with our technology. We lose the ability to do things we should know how to do.
