Chapter 1 – Introductions
KYLE
My name is Kyle. That’s all I’ll say in case this recording falls into the wrong hands. The Empire, if you want to be specific. When Star Wars began coming to Earth, we saw small changes only a month or two ago but, this is day before things really changed…
I was walking to school when I met up with my friends, Jared, Alex, Elizabeth, and Jacob, at the park. Then we headed to the college, Selkin’s School for the Advanced.
[Elizabeth and I are dating, by the way.]
Elizabeth was reading a book about time travel. Jared had just turned 16 and gotten his driver’s license. I’m 21, along with Elizabeth. Jacob and Alex are both 20.
[Oh, Alex wants it. We’re still on chapter 1 though. No, no, give it back! Ugh.]

ALEX
My name is Alex ------------------.
[NO FULL NAMES!]
That was Kyle. Sorry.
Anyway, we met walking to school. At a Y in the road we split up – Jared went to high school and we went to college. We had just gotten back from visiting our parents. At school we went to class. I have a bully. His names – yes, names – are Killer of Pulps, or Francis. Francis HATES kids like me. Nerds, geeks, etc. Obviously you’ll think I got beat up, but you would be wrong. Everyone is scared of me. Let’s just say I’m dangerous when holding anything.
I made my point Francis was trying to beat me up but I took him out with a pencil and a pack of paper. My nickname is Doodler. I can draw anything, obviously.

ELIZABETH
I’m Elizabeth. I like reading. Hold on. [Take that, you filthy spider.]
Sorry, watching Lord of the Rings.
Anyways, so that night everything changed. Some of us had major changes while other of us had minor ones. The next morning I looked like Ahsoka Tano. Kyle had little flabby things hanging from the back of his head. I don’t know what they’re called. Alex grew little horns; and lucky Jacob, nothing happened to him.

JACOB
I’m Jacob. Some people will describe me as a geek, others as a nerd, but I think of myself as pretty normal. I am a genius when it comes to building, though. Every day, I bring my favorite hammer to school. And I also bring my favorite hat, which is basically a pilot’s cap with goggles.
After the event I call “The Changing” I went to school and when I saw Kyle, Elizabeth, and Alex, I nearly passed out when I realized they were staring at me.
“What?” I asked.
“Look behind you,” they said in unison.
I turned and, low and behold, my favorite hammer was floating next to my favorite hat. This time I really did pass out.
When I woke up, I saw a bright light. Then I saw my friends.
