Chapter 3
The cafeteria was filled to the brim. Sarah, Oscar, and I made our way through to our table in the corner. Some other people say there too, but we were the only ones who sat there every day.
"Why doesn't the school make this lunchroom bigger?" Sarah asked. "Too much time and money" I say, biting into a turkey sandwich. We continued to talk until after our lunches were finished.
As we were getting up to go to our study period I saw Jordan's head above the crowd searching. "Let's hurry" I say to them. I pull on Oscar's wrist and he looks back at Jordan, who has found me. We run down the hallway and into Mrs. Dubose's room.
We sit in our seats and pull out our math homework. Silently working on it together for the next hour. I couldn't focus, Jordan was still on my mind. I went home that day on a different bus so he couldn't find me. I'm dreading tomorrow , I know I can't run forever.
