Chapter 2
"Man!" Sarah exclaimed, "That must have been some fight." She was looking at my face, foundation in hand, trying to find the right color to cover up the bruise on my face. "You should have seen the other guy," I say, trying to hurry the process of covering up the evidence.
"Okay, okay!" Sarah said, finding the correct color for me 'Dark Crème'. She put it lightly on my cheek, tongue sticking out in concentration. "Viola!" she said as she finished her masterpiece of makeup. "You're pretty good at this," I said as I looked at myself in the mirror.
"I've been doing this every day for the past two years, of course I'm good." She had a point there. "Lets get going, I don't want to be late for class," she said after yanking me out of my chair. We stepped outside and ran the three blocks to school so Mr. Bridgman wouldn't yell at us for being late.
"Thanks... for... the makeup," I said while catching my breath. We walked into our classroom right as Sarah's name was being called for attendance."Sarah Alder?" Mr. Bridgman asked the class. "Here!" Sarah said as she took her seat in the back row. I sat down in my seat and started the long wait for my name.
I nodded off after that but i woke up in time for my name
"Oscar Petrov?"
"Here."
"Claire Sandell?"
"She's sick"
"Okay... Maren Smith?"
"Here"
"George Thorton?"
"Present"
"Braden Xavier"
"Here"
"Alright, you can all go to Spanish class now," He said. He leaned back in his chair and took a sip of his coffee,
waiting for the next class to come in.
I started to walk down the hallway with Sarah and Oscar, who were debating who had the best name. "Come on, Petrov is way cooler than Alder!" Oscar said. "Is not, my last name is a tree," Sarah said like it was the most obvious thing she could have said. "You're both wrong," I say, "My last name is the coolest because it starts with an x." I said that right as we walked into Mr. Murray's classroom. Sarah gave me a look like this isn't over and sat down at her desk. I moved to my seat at the back of the room and then floated off into blissful sleep...
