CHAPTER FOURTEEN.
- kehlani jenner

I WALKED OUT with my head hung in shame. Carla lied to me. Maybe she wanted rid of me.

"She lied to me!" I shouted as I stormed out of the Charlotte Street Hotel, tears streaming down my face.

"Kehlani, she didn't," Alisha replied to me placing her hand on my back in a comforting way.

"Why is Kris' daughter already there then?" I asked her angrily.

Alisha stopped in her tracks, "in there isn't her daughter."

"It must be! Who else would be it, Alisha? Why would she believe someone random like that?" I basically shouted at her, "I'll ring us a taxi."

"No need, my mum will be here any minute," Alisha said as she looked down at her Rose Gold watch.

How could I have been so delusional?

Of course I wasn't the third Jenner sister. My name was definitely just a coincidence and Carla must have lied to me, maybe so she could get a few hours to herself.

Ten minutes passed and Alisha's mums car pulled up to pick us up. "What's wrong with you girls? How come you're coming home? Don't you get in depth interviews with Kris?" Mrs Fairhurst asked us.

Neither of us replied, silencing the whole car ride. All I could do was stare and think, think and stare.

And when I got back home things weren't much different until Carla started the fire inside of me.

"So..." Carla said, "how did it go?"

I just ignored her. What am I supposed to say?

Carla moved closer and reached her hand out towards me, "Kehlani?"

"Get away from me!" I shouted at her as I flinched away from her touch.

"What?" Carla asked, confused.

"You know exactly what. You're a liar!" I cried, tears running down my face again.

"Kehlani, what are you on about?" Carla asked again, she was still completely confused about the whole situation.

"They didn't accept me, Carla! What don't you understand? The real Jenner was already there!" I snapped.

"What?! Kehlani I didn't lie to you, Kris is your real mother," Carla said as she scratched her head.

"Carla?" I asked her, an idea springing to mind.

"Yes?" She replied, noticing that my eyes lit up as I had an idea.

"Kris knows who you and Micheal are, right? Like your name, and Avery and stuff," I said.

"Yes, why?" Carla asked, knowing I was onto something.

"So that means that she'd only accept them if their foster parents were called Carla and Micheal?"

"What are you getting at, Kehlani?" Carla asked me as she tapped her foot.

"That means someone knows information about me," I said, looking up at Carla, a smile creeping on my lips.

Carla stared blankly until she replied, "you're right. Why else would Kris accept a random?"

"I don't know. Apparently she's doing DNA tests and plans on meeting the foster parents but I don't know when, it was just a rumour on the Cosmopolitan, I saw it on Snapchat," I said to Carla as I fell back onto the sofa.

"Right," Carla said as she sat down on the sofa too.

"Would you get in contact with Kris for me?" I asked her hopefully.

"You see, Kehlani, you're really important to Micheal and I. Avery would miss you so much and Shadow would never be able to get used to you leaving home," she said as she played with a bracelet Avery and I bought her with Micheal a few years ago.

"Why don't you come with us? Kris seems understanding enough, maybe she could buy you guys a countryside house over there, you guys love the countryside, and I know Avery and Shadow would," I pleaded, not realising how cheeky it sounded.

"Kris and I fell out a long time ago, it could take a lot of time to clear the air between us, Kehlani, you do understand that, right?" Carla said as she glanced at me and then back at her bracelet.

"You guys should negotiate then! I'm sure she'd be over the moon if you told her yourself that you want me to see them!"

"I don't know, Kehlani, I don't think I could bare to see you go, honestly," Carla grunted.

"You should contact Kris and more importantly find out who that bitch pretending to be me is!" I exclaimed.

"Alright, watch the language," Carla said as her eyes darted towards me.

"Carla, I'm almost eighteen. That's adulthood in the U.K.!" I giggled.

"Not under my roof," Carla said as she tried to hide a snigger, "alright, when is her flight?"

"Not tomorrow but the day after at 8:00pm," I said pretty fast, I'm not sure why but when I'm excited I tend to speed up my words. Weird.

"8:00pm? You know I'm working, Kehlani," Carla replied unhappily.

"Why can't Micheal go then?" I asked her pleadingly, she can't let this one slide.

"He can't leave Avery on her own and he can't take her either, I don't want her to see your real family, it will upset her," Carla said as tears slowly filled her eyes but she managed to hide it.

"Okay, Carla. It doesn't even matter," I said, the tears rolling down my face yet again as I ran to my bedroom.
