[ Freddy's POV • ]
I decided not to ride my skateboard to school but to walk instead. It was the first day back since the lock-in, and I was not excited to see Asher and Summer being all flirtatious with each other. But I had no idea why. I had always liked Summer as a friend, but I had this new feeling for her. One I never had with Kale, therefore any girl. When I saw Summer in the halls while getting my books, I got..nervous.
Suddenly, my best friends Zack and Lawrence were approaching me.

"You okay Freddy? You look like a deer in the headlights." Lawrence asked.

"Yeah, I'm okay. Can you guys help me with something?"

"As long as it doesn't involve pudding, I'm in." Zack answered.

"I second that." Lawrence said.

Pudding? I really don't want to know what those two were doing during the lock-in.

"How do you tell someone you like them?" I blurted.

"What? You're dating Kale, you can't cheat on her like that!" Lawrence said.

"I dated Kale. We broke up at the lock-in."

"So then who do you like now?" Zack asked, smirking.

I really did not want the guys to know I liked Summer. Zack would probably tease me forever since she moved on to Asher. I, Freddy Huerta, would have to admit I was rejected. I'd have to admit my heart was broken.

As for Lawrence, that guy has no idea how to keep a secret.

"Oh. It's not for me. It's for..Kale. She broke up with me because she liked someone else and I thought I'd give her advice." I fibbed.

Both Lawrence and Zack rolled their eyes.

"You want to give advice to your ex-girlfriend?" Zack asked.

"Yeah. She did so many nice things for me I thought I'd do something back." I said.

"O-okay. Well I think you should tell her to just go up to her crush and admit what she feels." Lawrence suggested.

"Agreed. Lawrence knows what he's talking about; he sang his feelings to Esme in seven different languages." Zack laughed.

"Perfect! Thank you guys!" I called, running to Mr. Finn's class.

Why tell Summer how I feel, when I can sing how I feel? She would definitely see what she's missing out on! I was going to wait a few days though. I didn't want everyone to think I was moving on so fast; something tells me I've liked Summer longer than I thought I had.

[ Summer's POV • ]
"And then he put his arm around me. He told me that it was the best night of his life. He leaned in and then..."

"Summer! I don't need to hear every detail about your love at first sight moment with Asher!" Tomika said, a little too loudly if you ask me.

I quickly turned my head over to Freddy. Did he hear what Tomika just said? Wait, why did I care? I have Asher. Freddy has Kale.

"Sorry! I'm just really excited. This is the first guy I've been into since Freddy!"

"That's the fifth time you've used the word Freddy today. Are you sure you're over him?" Tomika asked.

"220% positive. The Fremmer ship has sunk!"

"Dang it. I was going to ask for a tee-shirt." Tomika said sarcastically.

I let out a laugh as we began walking to Mr. Finn's room. What a surprise, our own "teacher" wasn't even in the classroom. This sort of thing happens everyday. Mr.
Finn isn't your ordinary teacher, nor is he even a teacher. But he has taught our class one fun lesson. Music. More importantly, School of Rock.

School of Rock is our secret band. Tomika is the singer and she plays bass. Lawrence plays keyboard, Zack manages the electric guitar, and Freddy rocks the drums. I play the tambourine, which doesn't have the biggest impact on the band. But I am the band manager, which in my opinion, beats out any other position in the group.

"Hey kids!" Mr. Finn yells, opening the window. It's his secret way to get into the school when he's an hour late, even though there's a back door that he's unaware of.

"Okay guys. great news. I got us a gig!" Mr.
Finn shrieked.

As the class began raging in excitement, Mr. Finn finally managed to close the window back up. For some reason he's been having a lot of trouble with it lately. But that's another thing to laugh at him for.

"We're going to be performing at a carnival." Mr. Finn continued.

"You can do that?" Freddy asked.

"Of course you can. That stage isn't just for magicians and clowns. It's for musicians too!"

Another round of cheers and claps were brought around the classroom.

"Anyways, we're booked to perform this Saturday night, so we don't have a lot of time to rehearse. So let's get rocking!" Mr. Finn exclaimed.

We agreed to sing the song "Stay" because it was a class favorite.

All you have to do is stay
A minute
Just take your time
The clock is ticking
So stay

As that line came out of Tomika's mouth, I looked over to my right, to see Freddy, looking at me. I hate when you decide to stare at someone when they're already staring at you, it's so awkward! Blushing, I quickly turned away and began looking around the classroom so it looked like I was "staring at everyone."

The song quickly came to an end, along with the bell directing us to our actual music class. The boring one.

Grabbing my bag, I was slightly shocked to feel someone tapping on my shoulder.

"Hey Summer. Can you meet me after school? I have something important to tell you."

Oh god. The last time Freddy said something similar to this I thought he was confessing his feelings to me, only to find out he needed help with finding a gift for his girlfriend.

But it didn't matter now, I didn't like Freddy like that anymore.

"That'd be great." I replied.

theres chapter one! so i guess freddy is going to confess his feelings to summer. i wonder how that will go?
