"You didn't call me back yesterday", I said over the phone to my father.
I was currently whipping me up something to eat. The clock on the television read 9:30.
"I'm sorry sweetheart. My meeting ran really long. I was negotiating a big contract for one of my clients. By the time I was finished I figured you were probably sleeping."
I sucked my teeth. "Yeah alright dad. I'm gonna go explore a little more around the city today. Feel free to take a break from work and call me today," I said sarcastically before hanging up.
With my dad, it was always an excuse. I used to get in my feelings about it but I've gotten so used to it at this point. I began to eat the food I prepared while scrolling down my Instagram feed. I have no idea what I'm going to do today. For now I'm just planning on walking around the city, and doing a bit of sight seeing. I knew I definitely wanted to try In N Out burger to see what all the hype is about. After finishing my food and washing the small amount of dishes, I quickly got dressed and headed out. Instead of taking my car, I decided to walk.
The streets of L.A were busy and buzzing on this Wednesday morning. Working people were on their way to their jobs and people like me were just enjoying the warm and sunny weather. I noticed how many little shops their were. Not thinking, I decided to randomly walk into a small boutique that caught my eye. I looked around and admired the cute clothes on the mannequins. There were about three people shopping in the store, and two employees standing behind the register holding a conversation with another girl. I picked up a dress and admired the fabric and design. Suddenly I was interrupted by the girl who was talking to the employees.
"Hey, you need any help with anything?," she asked.
I smiled. "No I'm just looking. Thank You though."
"No problem. You know I couldn't help but to notice you. For some reason you look really familiar."
I giggled slightly. "Yeah you're probably thinking of someone else. I actually just moved here."
She turned her head slightly. "Really? That's cool. Where from?"
"Philadelphia," I responded.
"Wow. That's a big transition. Well anyway, I'm Brianna," she said while sticking out her hand.
I smiled and shook it. "It's nice to meet you Brianna. I'm Zoya."
One of the employees spoke up. "She's new and pretty. Interesting."
I smiled.
"Well anyway Zoya, I'm throwing my boyfriend a party for his 23rd birthday. You should come."
"W-wait really?" I asked shocked. "But we just met."
"I know. But you seem cool. Plus you told me you just moved here. This'll give you an opportunity to meet some people and make friends."
I shook my head in disbelief. "Wow. I'd love to come. Thank you."
"No problem," she said while writing on a slip of paper. She handed it to me.
"This is my number. The party is tomorrow. Text me so I can save your number. I'll make sure to message you all the details."
I smiled and took the slip of paper.

I finished lifting weights as Migo's T-Shirt blasted through my beats pill. I wiped the sweat off my forehead and gulped down an entire bottle of water. I was currently at the gym getting a workout in. My dad's been preparing me heavily for this fight on Friday, and as we got closer and closer he pushed me harder and harder. My dad motioned for me to come over and work the punching bags. I sighed and got up while putting my boxing gloves on. My dad answered an incoming phone call and walked out of the gym room. I took my gloves off and walked over to Julian. I sat down and sighed.
