Welcome To New York

John smiled brightly as he carefully drew in his sketch book at the kitchen table in the apartment he shared with his boyfriend and two best friends. He was slowly working on a commission, a simple bouquet of flowers, he didn't know why that's what someone wanted, but they offered thirty dollars, so he accepted it. He had been working on it all morning while his favorite radio station was on the radio on the counter.
"Thank you for listening to Magic One Hundred Point Seven™, next we'll be playing a song by the newest hit band, The Revolutionaries! Stay tuned, after this commercial Welcome To New York will be played!" The radio announcers voice spoke, and John looked up from his work, starring at the radio for a moment before standing up and quickly going to Alexander's room.
"Come here." He demands,
"What's wrong?" Alexander asks confused, looking up from his computer.
"Nothing, just come here!" John says, going to him and grabbing his arm,
"What is it, Jacky?"
"Just please come here?" John asks in a whine,
"Fine, fine, you win."
John smile only grew as he pulled Alexander with him to the kitchen, then went to the radio and turned it up to max.
"It's a car wash commercial, what's so special?" Alexander almost yelled over the radio.
"After the commercials!" John says happily.
Then suddenly the commercials were over, there was a quick looming sound, then a base drum, then hand claps. And Alexander had his hands over his mouth in shock, John watched him, waiting, happy as ever.
"It's our song." Alexander states dumbly as the chorus started, lowering his hands.
"It is!" John says happily, grabbing both of Alexander's hands.
"We're on the radio."
"We are."
Alexander then pulled John a bit closer, lightly kissing as the line "you can want who you want, boys and boys and girls and girls." And they pulled apart just as the line ended.
"We're on the radio, do you know how many people listen to this station? So many!" Alexander says happily,
