The bridge was has expected abandoned, damp and panels flickering. He approached the communication system and was surprised to see a distress beacon active. "Help could be on the way...Can't have that." He shook his head and deactivated the signal. "Just be to sure..." He reached under and ripped the wires out. He smiled admiring his fast thinking. Suddenly, he heard something rattle. He spun around only to see a shadow climbing out of the vent on the other side of the room. A woman emerged. Disappointment was written across his face. He sighed at the sight of her. "Oh my god, I'm not the only one." She said as she hurried towards him. He put his hands up in protest. "I swear...if you attempt a hug I will snap your neck." She stopped annoyed. "Your always such an asshole." He smiled "Thank you for the compliment." Her eyes focused on the communication panel. "Is the beacon active? Please tell me it is." He calmly shook his head "Sorry. Its busted." She pushed passed him in panic. She saw the bare wires and slammed her fist down on the glass. "If I can get to engineering there is a back up beacon, but its dangerous in there." His curiosity and worry were obvious, but not for the reason she thought. "Why is it dangerous?" He asked attempting to hide his hopeful tone. "Those things...I don't know what they are. They look like giant spider hands. Somehow there is a nest of them in there. I don't know how we would even begin to get in there." A slight smile was briefly on his face then suppressed. "We need to find a way. How about we head that way and think of a plan as we go." He grabbed her pulling her toward the vent hatch. She was suspicious because of his eager additude, but brushed off the awkward feeling.

20 minutes later

They were about to barrel through the engineering vent when she stopped him. "They are everywhere." She whispered. He was happy she was in front of him. He shouted "That perfect!" He shoved her through the vent and she popped out on the floor. Horror wrecked her face. He saw a mound shaped object beside her. There were flaps on top that opened. She stood there about to scream and run, but it was too late. The spider like creature leapt onto her face, wrapped its tail around her neck and she hit the floor. He was enthralled by the show and then an idea! "Oh yes!" He reached out of the vent and grabbed her by her feet. He drug her through the vent huffing and puffing. The creature pulsed on her face, but wasn't disturbed. They exited at the kitchen. "This will have to do. I guess I got turned around." He intended to be back at the science lab, but dragging a full grown woman with a parasite attached to her face can be draining. He placed her body on the counter. Sadly, most of the food was rotten or half bad. "Canned food...oh how you save me." He sat across from her limp body and ate some beans. A plan formulating in his mind. "If there are two of them and since I helped it reproduce, maybe I can get its attention if I can keep the baby." He was a little emotional since this new life form technically would be half his. "I did enable its creation. I am its step dad at least." He scooped more beans into his mouth and smiled. "We are already starting a family."
