Short Story #1
I looked over the beautifully glistening water with a small smile upon my slender face. I gripped the pole beside me with my boney fingers. My shirt fell off my shoulders as it was far too big for my small frame.
I had hit my goal weight.
80 lbs.
I told myself once I hit my goal, I was allowed to leave this god forsaken world.
The night air nipped at my pale skin as a sinister smile played on my face.
The quite blow of the wind calmed my aching soul and body.
The cuts littering my body taunted me in the night as I watched the water create small waves.
Soon I'll be part of those beautiful waves.
I pulled my phone from my pocket, sending the prewritten message to my parents and my only friend Sarah.
I read over the message as the air blew my frail hair in the wind.
I knew I waited too long when I could hear rapid footsteps coming towards my direction.
I watched as a panicked looking Sarah came out from the house not far from the bridge I was standing on.
I could see my parents running with their phones clutched to their chests as I turned away and looked over the water.
"ROSE?!" Sarah screeched as she saw my figure standing on the bridge. I looked towards her with a sickening smile.
"I see you wanted to say goodbye in person," I smiled darkly.
"Rose, don't do this! Please!" She cried.
"Don't cry," I frowned. "This will make me happy," I lifted my right arm carelessly with a bright smile.
"ROSE!" My mother cried as my body swayed towards the water. I held tight, wanting to say my final goodbyes.
"Don't any of you see?" I whisper with furrowed brows. "This is what's gonna make me happy! I'll finally be free!" I yelled happily with a huge grin.
"Rose please don't do this," my father sobbed as he held my crying mother. I stepped down from the bridge and the three of them ran into my arms. I held them all tightly, for the last time.
"I love you all," I said happily. I grabbed Sarah's shoulders roughly and planted my lips upon hers. They tasted sweet like vanilla and sour like her favourite 'warheads' candies she always seemed eating. "I love you," I said as I broke us apart.
Too dazed to say a word, I was easily able to walk away and back onto the bridge.
"And this is my finale goodbye," I smiled as I blew them all a sweet kiss. "I love you!" I said as I felt my self falling towards the water.
"ROSE!" My mother screeched.
My body jerked upwards as a hand gripped my wrist tightly.
It was Sarah.
"Please don't go, I love you too," she said with tears streaming down her angelic face.
"I'm sorry," I said to her as her grip tightened. My parents were helping her keep my fragile body from falling as they all cried. "I love you," I said to them all.
"Grab my hand!" My father cried as he held it towards my face. I shook my head sadly as I looked down at the water.
"Goodbye," I whispered as I began scratching at their hands to get them to let me go. Sarah hissed as she began bleeding where I had been scratching. "Let me go!" I cried.
"I can't," she sobbed. "I can't,"
I pulled myself up enough to bit her hand and she screeched as she was forced to let me go.
Everything seemed to go in slow motion.
The wind blew my hair as I fell with a smile.
"I LOVE YOU!" Sarah yelled.
"ROSE!" My parents cried.
As I heard the last words to ever be spoken to me, I felt my body collide with the water. I felt my body hit rocks as I felt myself slipping away. My body pulled onto shore as I coughed and heaved. My vision faded in and out as my whole body ached.
Sarah and my parents ran over to my dying body. She picked me up into her arms and held me close as she cried. She ran her fingers through my hair gently as I slipped away.
"I love you," she whispered as my vision completely blacked out.
