One Direction - Fanfiction 11:11

Part 1

You’re sitting casually, facing a large bay window. The tiny café is barely filled with customers. You can hear the quiet voices chiming in the background. Your mind is cluttered with thoughts as you slowly sip the warm mug of coffee that sits in your hands. A young man passes you, wiping down the table to your left. You watch as a few people leave the shop, as the CLOSED sign is hung up.

You leisurely get to your feet and head towards the door, weaving in and out around the small crowd of people. You push open the door shivering at the cold. Tiny snowflakes drift down from the grey sky above. You pull your jacket around you tighter. Another shiver makes its way up your back. A few snowflakes collect on the tips of your eye lashes. You furiously blink them away. Every shop around you is dark. And the streets are chillingly empty.

You can hear your boots crunch in the snow each step you take. The sound is somehow calming to hear. You unlock the doors to your vintage Chevy and quickly get in, trying desperately to escape the cold. You rub your hands together as you insert the key into the ignition. They key slides in effortlessly, but when you try to start the truck it proves much more difficult.

You gulp, trying once more again to start the truck. Once again, you come to no avail. You try again, and again. Finally, you give up; tearing your key out of the ignition and leaning your head back against the seat. You can see your breath in the dim light of the street. You shut your eyes, fed up and feeling your fingers numbing from the cold. Finally, you get up and shove open the car door, deciding to go look for help. You look around for sign of life, but there’s nothing, no one. They street lights glare at you and illuminate the empty streets.

You storm angrily back into your truck, slamming the door so it shakes the vehicle.

You sit like this for what seemed like an eternity, loosing feeling to your toes. Suddenly, you jolt up as you hear a small tap at your window. Your heart is racing as you see a face behind the icy glass. It’s not a familiar face. You contemplate what would be the most wise decision to make, but as you feel your fingers burning red from the cold, you decide you better take your chances.

Slowly, you roll down the frosted window and peer out into the darkness.

“You need some help babe?” the boy outside calls.

You purse your lips, eyeing the boy. He looked about you’re age. Maybe a bit older. And he looks friendly, from what you can make out of him in the haze of the street lamps.

“Yes, uhm…sort of.” you say gulping as the cold bit at the edge of your nose.

“You look cold.” he smiles. You’re breath catches as you see his face clearer. His blue eyes glisten in the dim light. You’re heart begins to race, and all of a sudden, you start to feel extremely self-conscious.

“I…I am.” you shiver.

“Do you need a ride? Is your car not starting?” he questions. You realize he is Irish and quickly hide your smile.

“Uhm…” you stop, and think for a moment before responding. “I guess so, but I’m not really sure it’d be the most wise to jump in a car with a stranger.” you say.
