Chapter 16: Amelia

I'm engaged. Wow that just doesn't sound real yet, that I'm 19 and engaged to one of the most famous young men in the world. This is what I've been wanting since I was a little girl, to get married and start a family that I wished I had always had. I know I'm going to get a lot of hate from the fans but I really don't care. I'm the happiest I have ever been and looking down at the ring on my finger, I know that marrying Niall is the best decision I have ever made. I'm staring down at my finger when Liss walks into my room, without knocking of course.

"I can't believe you're getting married." She sighs, heaving herself onto the bed. I lean my head on her shoulder just like I used to when we were little and we would just sit and talk. "What's it feel like?"

"Getting engaged?" She nods with a small smile. "It's...It's terrifying and amazing at the same time. It's terrifying because you're basically vowing to be with them for forever, to always be by their side. At the same time though, it's amazing that you get to vow to be with them for forever and always be by their side. I get to spend the rest of my life with the man I am completely head over heels in love with and to be honest...I'm scared to death. What if he realizes that he deserves so much more than me. Someone without a checkered past or scars on their body. To be honest, I'm surprised he hasn't seen them yet but anyways. Oh my god. Liss, what if he leaves me at the altar?" She bursts out laughing and I give her a look.

"Oh god. I'm sorry Am, but really? Leave you at the altar? If anything he has to worry about you getting cold feet and running away. I really don't think he's going anywhere, you've got him stuck to you like glue. You sound ridiculous right now, hun. Just take a deep breath and relax." I start to giggle.

"I really do sound ridiculous, huh? Niall loves me and I love him, no one is leaving anyone." I nod to myself. Liss is silent for a while. "Did you die over there?" I joke but she doesn't laugh. "Liss?"

"It's gonna be weird without you around. We've always been together and now you're getting married. Now you're leaving." She murmurs and I look up to see her eyes beginning to water a little. Oh Liss. I would never completely leave you.

"Oh Liss. I would never completely leave you." I voice my thoughts to her. "You're like my sister and no matter where I go, I'll always be here for you. I'm just going to be living in a different house is all. Besides, you have Derek and the rest of the boys. So you'll never be alone." Her eyes light up at the mention of Derek, her boyfriend of three months now. "Speaking of Derek, isn't he supposed to be here soon?"

"Oh yeah. He's on his way." She says lazily and I glance down at her outfit. She's in sweats, one of Derek's hoodies and a pair of slipper boots. Normally she would be freaking out trying to look nice for him. Liss notices me looking and shrugs.

"I'm tired of trying to be something I'm not. I'm not the kind of girl who always looks her best and it's tiring to try to do that all the time. If he really loves me, he won't care what I look like in sweats."

"Wait...Love you?" I question and her cheeks flush.

"Yeah...He told me he loved me last night..."

"Oh my god! Liss! That's amazing! We both had something special happen to us last night!" I exclaim, squeezing her tightly. The doorbell rings and we look at each other.

"Nice timing." We say in unison. I get out of bed and stretch, heading for the door.

"Am?"

"Yeah?" I say, turning around to face my best friend. She walks over and hugs me, her perfume filling my nose. I breathe in, not caring if that's weird or not. Her perfume kind of calms me and gives me a sense of security.

"Thanks." She whispers.

"Anytime." With that, we walk down to greet Derek, Liss's arm snaking through mine.
