(Again pretend that is Trixxy and Cali jumping okay)
Matthew's POVAs we exited the barn and entered the arena. Cali asked me what the lessons level was. And I just replied with "2'6"
Cali went over and hopped up onto Trixxy. She then walked on. Then I hopped onto Soot and started to walk away as well.
Cali and I waited for Jamie, our riding instructor. To come out and start the lesson.
We waited for at least 2 minutes until Jamie came out on her horse, Storm.
Cali's POV
"Hello, students. I see we have a new student. What's your name, sweetheart?" She asked me as she hopped up onto Storm's back gently.
Storm was a strong structured horse. His pearly white fur glistened in the sunlight. His eyes stood out like a sore thumb, they were bright green. He had one black marking around his left eye, it was a perfect circle. He stood tall and thin. Storm resembled a true Thoroughbred X Arabian. He was a fast horse.
I answered Jamie, "I'm Cali Calvin and this is Trixxy my mom's horse." I nodding well I slowed Trixxy down to a stop.
Trixxy stood there quiet and calm, she stood tall as well to show herself off to Storm and Jamie.
Jamie replied quickly, "Well, I hope you enjoy it here. Shall we get started then."
So we started our lesson.
(Watch video and I am too lazy to write the whole lesson down so I will summarize it.)
**************
At the end of the lesson I looked at both Jamie and Matthew's faces. Their eyes were in awe.
I didn't understand why, but next thing you know I was on the competition team.*********
The Next MorningI was surprised by this when i saw the sign on my stall door the next morning that said, "WELCOME TO THE TEAM!!!!!!!!
~love,
Matthew Lemmings "As I looked at sign I heard a whip crack. So I ran outside to see this beautiful dapple gray mare being whipped for no reason. I rushed down to the woman and grabbed her hand. I then asked her why she was whipping this poor mare.
Her response was the must horrible thing I have ever heard. She screamed, "LET GO OF ME!!!!!! AND I WHIPPED THIS MARE BECAUSE SHE DESERVES IT!!!!!! SHE IS A WORTHLESS PIECE OF TRASH!!!!!"
I let go of her hand and grabbed the horse's lead rope from her. And said, "Then sell her, don't abuse her."
She replied but with anger in her eyes, "She wouldn't sell for a good price so I just let my anger out on her."
"GO NOW!!" I yelled with all my might.
And she ran back to the stable.
I read the mares halter, "Devil" it read. I wonder why the lady thought you were worthless. So I decided to ride Devil. But, first I had to gain her trust.
So I started with small movements of my arms allowing her to see I wouldn't hurt her. I then let go of any sharp thing I had and my crop. I dropped them on the floor. I started to take tiny steps closer. Every time, I stepped closer I let her sniff me and let her get comfortable until I would step closer again. Then I would be right next to her face but I would not touch just let her sniff. Then she would run off.
I did this for I week until it was the next Saturday.
*********
Next SaturdayI took my last step and stopped close to her head and put out my hand.
She pushed her head into my hand causing me to move closer and hug her neck. Devil reached her head back around to me, and gave me a hug as well.
Everyday I would move faster with my steps.
Soon enough she trusted me and I trusted her. We had gained a bond unbreakable.
Matthew walked out of the barn. Causing Devil to spook, but I calmed her down. Matthew walked over.
"Amazing, how the heck did you get her to trust you?" Matthew said as he reached out his hand out to touch Devil's nose. Devil moved towards him and touched her muzzle to his hand.
I replied with a calm tone in my voice, "It took time to gain her trust but I did in a week." I then told him what I did each day.
He said I should bring Devil inside because it was supposed to storm tonight. So I put her halter on and hooked her lead rope onto her halter. I started to walk and she followed me to her stall.
I lead her into her stall and unhooked her lead rope from her halter. Then I left her stall and shut the door behind me. I said goodnight to Devil and Trixxy. Then I left for the night.
I made it home before it started to pour and I was able to get Jewel into her little stall shed, too.
Then I went to bed for the night and said goodnight to my mom and my brothers.
