Chapter Five...

"Well, if your going to be staying, you will have to learn to fight." Chase began. It has been almost a week since I have came to join Alex and Chase. My leg has healed and I am gaining in strength. Today is the first, and probably not last, of my fighting lessons.

Chase waved his hand, telling me to follow him. He lead me to a giant, empty room. Nothing was on the floor but lining the twilight blue walls were rows upon rows of weapons. There were long gleaming swords and knives that were perfect for throwing, each casting silvery light from their metallic blades. That was only two examples of the many weapons.

"The first thing you need to know is not to get completely wrapped up in a fight. Many people do that then are stabbed in the back when they are not expecting anything. Always keep half a mind on whats going on around you." Chase began, pacing across the white tiled floor. "This kind of split focus is not easy to learn and takes a skilled mind to master. Only a few people have the mental capacity to do this."

Tiling my head to the side I ask, "can you do it? Split your focus I mean."

"Sadly, no. I only know one person who can." He said with a shake of his head. "But lets continue with the lesson. So when you are fighting, always keep an eye out for your opponents weaknesses. The faster you figure them out the better change you will have."

Chase continued to lecture and teach me for about an hour. Before I knew it, he was backing away from me while raising his fists.. "Sometimes the only way to learn how to fight is to be thrown into one. So naturally, that's what were going to do."

"I'm not sure this is a good idea. I am not a fighter." I say. There was no way I was going to fight Chase.

Raising an eyebrow, Chase scoffed, "Not a fighter! Sure. When you first got here you fought me remember. And you won. Now, I'm not convinced that your not a fighter."

I opened my mouth to reply but I snapped it shut realizing I had nothing to say.

"Now that we've covered that, fight me." He said simply. After a few seconds, Chase lunged at me.

Catching me off balance, I was knocked to the ground. Quickly, I rolled to my stomach, then rose to perch on my fingertips and toes. Scanning the area ahead of me, I find that I didn't know where Chase had went. I close my eyes and inhale deeply. As I release me breath, I launch myself backwards. Twisting in the air, I crash into something solid and feel it give out. When I come to a halt, I am ready to pounce again, but there was no need to.

A groggy Chase was slumped against the wall rubbing the back of his head. Without realizing it, a grin broke out on my face. Looking towards me, Chase grinned as well, "I defiantly didn't expect that. Are you still convinced your not a fighter?"

All I could do was shake my head for words would not come.

Chase opened his mouth to say something, when the room started shaking. Dust began to fall in sheets from the creamy white roof. A deep rumbling echoed through the walls. It sounded like the laugh of an evil villain. The chuckle grew louder and louder, and the shaking got worse as well. The glinting weapons began to shake themselves off the walls as well.

Tearing my eyes away, I look towards Chase. His expression chilled me. His forest green eyes were wide with terror and his mouth was open in shock.

"What does he wants. We've been good. It's the girl I bet. I knew we should have gotten rid of her." his words were barely audible but I knew he was talking about me. Grabbing my wrist, Chase dragged me out of the room and into another. Alex was in the new room, standing by a door, "hide in here, Raven. You can't be seen by him. When he gets here, don't scream. Don't make a noise or move at all. If he get's to you, you will wish you were dead."

A choke rose from my throat, freezing me in my spot. I didn't stop for long because Chase shoved me through the door and slammed it behind me. "If you want to watch, there is some slits in the middle of the door. But be sure not to make a sound," I heard Alex's voice through the door.

Eye's wide, I look through the slits Alex told me about. At first all I saw was Alex and Chase standing in the middle of a giant white cavern. The floor was a white marble with clear wisps floating around, making the floor look like it was alive with clouds. Tall, crystal white walls rose from the ground, ending in a large dome roof. The two boys in the room look tiny in the massive white room.

As I studied the room, thick fog started to form. Curly and wrapping it's tendrils on everything that stood in its way. As the fog moved among the boy's feet, a black spot began to spark. It grew wider and wider, the edges sparking in the same black color. All of a sudden a large crack of what sounded like thunder echoed in the room. When the room stopped shaking, flicked my eyes to where the sparking hole used to be. But in place of the black spot was something so horrifying that it took all my will power not to scream.
