I yanked my skirt down as far as it would go without completely coming off completely as I avoided the heat of Adam’s gaze on me.
‘What?!’, I snapped as I finally gave in and looked up with a glare ready on my face.
He had been staring at me for the past 15 minutes ever since I had given in, with great difficulty, to Anna’s firm statement that ordered me to stay here for even longer than necessary. The kids, even Ravi who tended to be awkward when it came to strangers, had pleaded with me to st€ay for longer so how could I refuse Anna’s and the kids’ pleadings?
Adam seemed startled that I had looked up and snapped at him. He was sitting in on the nearby sofas that looked incredibly soft, occasionally running a hand through that amazing curly hair of his.
No, what are you thinking! I mentally scolded my self. He is an idiot. No matter how hot or attractive he looks. He hates you and you hate him. End off.
‘Well, you know, I was just gazing at your beauty’.
What? What is up with this..creature and why is he giving me compliments? I guess I should be flatter-
My swirling and confused thoughts were interrupted as I heard the familiar, unattractive cackle of laughter that was emitted from the idiot in front of me.
‘Yo-you didn’t actu-actually be-believe me, did you?’. He choked on his laughter while struggling to get his words out.
I almost believed him.
I felt the burn of my cheeks as I tried to not look as embarrassed in front of..well..my siblings.
‘’Of course I didn’t. Who would actually believe you?’ I scoffed at his rude remark.
He smirked at me knowingly and opened his mouth to say something just as we were disrupted.
‘Come play with me, Jassy’. A little hand tugged my skirt from where I was standing near the entrance of the grand living room.
I looked down and saw Rebekah giving me the puppy eyes. I inwardly groaned. I can never say no to these eyes!
‘Okay honey, I’m coming’, I replied reluctantly. But I still went, giving Adam the dirtiest look I could muster up as I past him.
‘This is May-May and this is Nicola. They’re both friends..’ I drowned out the presence of the idiot Adam and focused on Rebekah as she was playing with the Barbie dolls Anna had given her in excitement.

It had already been over an hour that I had been forced to stay here for the sake of my siblings’ happiness when Rebekah finally let me go but not without a fight. She was extremely attached to me, probably due to the fact that she saw me as a mother figure because she never actually got a chance to see her mum.
As I got up quietly while Rebekah continued talking to her dolls, I looked around the room towards my other siblings.
Ravi was intently focused on playing on the big screen Xbox as we did not have a big screen like this at ours. I felt a pang of sadness as I realised Ravi did not get to live a luxurious life as the boys of his age did in this town.
Aleesha was sprawled across the floor with colouring pencils placed in her mouth as she used the colouring book that looked far too expensive for a children’s wreck book.
Rayan and Rayhan, the two boys out of the triplets, were lying across the massive toy mat in one corner of the room, with cars and driving it across the tracks on the mat while making car noises.
