Chapter 6 • Dinner is Served

"What are we having for dinner?" Will eyes scan the room towards his father.

"We are having double-cut lamb chops and roasted creamed corn." Alpha Monté says as my mouth begins to water.

In home servers bring out plates and ask if we would like some wine, both Will and I decline.

"So as you know Nina will one day become Luna of the Blue Moon pack." I nearly choke on my food.

"Dad, Nina and I are going to take things slow. I know we used to know each other. But that was long ago." Will challenges his father with that statement.

I decide to back him up.
"With respect sir, I haven't even turned seventeen yet. I know Will has a good and genuine heart. But I don't want to rush into anything."

Jonah's statement takes me by surprise.
"Wait until you turn seventeen Nina, you can't resist the mate pull. I'm proud with how well behaved Will has been tonight. If that were me with Gwen before we were mated..... let's just say I would've had to be chained to the wall."

The rest of dinner passes with few words and clanks from silverware hitting firm China.  Luna Stella speaks up.
"Anyone up for dessert?" Luna Stella asks.

"Unless you want anything Nina, I would like to talk to you alone." Will puts his hand on mine. Sparks once again.

"No I think I'm done." I push back my chair and Will grabs my hand and pulls me towards French doors.

We are walking down to a garden, even though it's night the place is well lit. Roses and Baby's Breath are everywhere. There is a gazebo covered in twinkling lights in the center.

"I know I have a rough past Nina." He pauses.
"But I also know that you aren't 17 yet and you don't feel the same way as I feel about you."

"How do you feel about me Will?" I ask him straight forward.

He stops walking and turns and takes both of my hands. His eyes contain the whole ocean and he is looking right at me.

"I feel as if someone has my whole life in front of me it's centimeters from my hand. But I can't exactly reach it. I'm terrified of losing it or breaking it. I have the feeling I have never felt before, it's a type of love I can't describe. It drives me insane that I can't spend every moment with you. I don't even know you but I know I love you. I love every fiber of you and everything you love. It's driving me crazy that I can't hold you and kiss you. But I know you need time, we both need time, and we both need to take things slow."

I'm at a loss for words. For once I don't have something to say. I'm just looking back into his ocean eyes that engulf me in every way. I look back down at his hands holding mine to gather my thoughts.

"I want to feel that way about you Will. I really do and I know I have loved you before. But before was a long time ago. Before was before you became a man, or a womanizer of sorts. So you're right, we need to take things slow. But I need a commitment from you Will. I'm not going to be able to give you everything you want right away. But I need you to promise me that you will be with me and me only."

"I can do that." He simply says and takes my hand and leads me through the maze of roses.

"I can do more than that Nina, I will do anything you need me to do." His thumb is rubbing the back of my hand.

"I want to take you out every night. I want to meet your friends. I want to spend every waking moment with you."  He leads me up to the lit up gazebo.

"I want to give you everything life has to offer. I want to give you me, but the best version of me, and I can't do that without help from you. So I need you to promise me that you won't give up on me." His tone is serious, nothing I have ever seen from him before.

"I can do that for you." He leans in forward, and I allow him. He places a small kiss on my lips, then pulls back.

"Nina Castleman, I promise to love you for the rest of my life, I promise to wait for you to learn to love me, I promise to give you everything you have ever wanted, I promise that I will be yours and yours only. Now will you take this ring as a symbol of my promise?"
He gets down on one knee and pulls out a shiny three stoned ring.

I am beyond shocked. I feel safe now. He is genuine, he is for real about us.

"I promise." I say and he places the ring on my finger.
