It was a chilly day today, dark clouds coated the sky and a thin layer of frost rested on the unuesed cars. Sally and I were walking home from one of our late classes. I was staying over at Sally's again tonight.
I checked my watch. It was 9:45. I wondered if Percy would be back at the apartment yet, he said something about meeting someone called Beck or something but he said he didn't know when he would be back.
Strangely Sally didn't mind what time he came in, which is strange because he's only 15 but I would not question her on parenting. She is a wonderful mother.
Anyway we were walking in silence along the cold streets of New York when we heard the scream of a young child. I spun around to see a young girl covered in some sort of gold dust limp out of an ally way.
Before I could react, sally sprinted to the girl to help her and I quickly followed.
When we reached her she looked tired and scared. The most terrifying thing though, she looked about 8 or 9 years of age.
"Are you alright" Sally asked, concern coating her voice.
The girl looked startled and looked up. Sally gasped and took a step forward. I wasn't sure why, but she looked like someone I knew and I wondered why Sally gasped.
"I'm alright" mumbled the girl as she turned to walk away but Sally stopped her.
"No, your one of Annabeth's sisters aren't you?" She pointed out as though she already knew.
The girl froze and slowly turned watching us carefully. Now I know why she looks familiar, she had the same curly blood hair and grey eyes.
"How do you know Annabeth" she said sternly looking us up and down, calculating eyes taking us in.
"She's a friend of my sons, its alright I'm clear sighted" sally smiled stepping closer.
"Your sons one of us?" the girl questioned in confusion, I had no idea what they were talking about.
"Yes come honey, you can stay with us" Sally spoke gently, reaching her hand out.
The girl looked like she was going to freak out and her hand inched toward her thighs as her eyes narrowed. She was a lot like Annabeth.
"Who's you're son?" she asked eyes still narrowed.
"Percy Jackson" she replied steadily.
"P-Percy J-Jackson?" She stuttered blushing. hhhmm I think someone has a crush.
Sally nodded, smiled widening into a knowing smirk.
"I'm Sally Jackson and this is Paul. Come on, Percy should be home soon and he can sort out your injures"
"Hold on, shouldn't we take her the hospital? her leg looks really bad" I asked. The girl looked startled and began to back away. "No I don't need to go the hospital" she said quickly.
"It's alright Paul, Percy will sort it out" Sally gave me a pointed glare.
I just nodded and we started toward Sally's apartment. I was still wondering what Percy could possibly do that we don't have to take his best friends sister to the hospital.
"What's you're name hunny" Sally asked after a moment of silent walking.
"Minerva Talas but call me Minni" the young girl replied.
"Shouldn't you have the same last name as Annabeth if your sisters" I asked.
"We have different dads" she shot quickly.
