"Hey." I said to Gigi, who was barging through my door in tears.
Gigi had rung my doorbell 5 times at 3am. I was still waking up when I realized tears were streaming down her bright red cheeks.
"Gi? What's wrong?" I said quietly, putting my arm around her.
"He...broke..up...with...me!" She said through sobs.
"What? Who? I had no idea you were dating."
"Well... I wasn't going to tell you about Dean until you and I got closer. The truth is, the reason I stopped being your friend is because I was hanging out with him all the time. When I totally abandoned you, I left you for that jerk!"
"Gigi... I feel terrible. I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Why did he break it off?"
"He said he 'had feeling for someone else'. Oh no...." She started sobbing again.
"Oh no. Okay here lay down." I laid her on the couch and put a blanket over her. All night I talked to her until 5am when she fell asleep. I was worn out and fell asleep on the couch with her. My alarm went off and she was still sleeping, so I left her alone so she could take a sick day.
I walked to school looking like a reck.
"Hey Nic- oh what happened?" Connor said obnoxiously.
"Gigi happened. She came to me crying at 3am and I stayed up with her until 5 so I got like zero sleep." I said yawning.
"Crying about what?"
"Her boyfriend. Dean. Oh yeah you don't know. Well remember she she abandoned me?" Connor nodded. "Well she left me for him because she thought they were soul mates."
"Ooh. That sucks. I'm guessing she stayed home."
"Yeah." I said, walking to class with Connor.
After school, I rushed home to take care of Gigi, as she was alone all day long. I walked inside to my house looking neater than usual. There was no one to be found. I saw a note on the couch.
Nicole-
Thank you for taking care of me. When he texted me so early in the morning I didn't know who else to turn to. And I'm glad I came to you because I feel so much better. I left to go out to the market to restock for my house. Thanks again.
-Gigi
Maybe she wasn't so bad after all.
