Over ten years had passed since the night Eadan Clarke had the vision of the famous Boy Who Lived surviving the killing curse and the girl had no memory of it. She grew up quickly as most children did, with memories of falling off the roof of a house to her princess birthday party when she was seven.

There was no fright nor speculation when Eadan began showing signs of magic. Watching her mother and father use it amazed her so knowing there would be a time when she could make objects float around a room and disapear from one place only to appear in another was exciting.

On the morning of July twenty-first, her eleventh birthday, Eadan was up before anyone else. She usually did this every day but even when she tried to sleep in she still managed to be awake for hours before anyone else was. But today, Eadan didn't even try to contain her excitment as she through back her covers as soon as the first bird chirped at her bedroom window.

She remembered her older brother Dillon's eleventh birthday clearly. Much like Eadan he had woken up early, up and ready for the day to come. The family of - what used to be four - three did normal birthday things; cake after breakfast, throwing themselves into the living room to watch the excited boy rip open presents.

Then the moment of anticipation when the post came. The family's great horned owl Fergus perched upon the kitchen window sill and Dillon gingerly plucked a lone envelope from his beak.

That's what Eadan wanted. It's what she expected.

Her Hogwarts letter would anounce the very start of her magic filled life. Not that she didn't see enough of it at home, but this would be the chance for her to experience first hand. She was thrilled.

After two hours of waiting for her father and her brother to awaken, a long, dragged out breakfast, Eadan and her family sat it the living room to wait.

Eadan's knee popped up and down rapidly as her excitement and anxiety for the minutes to come got the best of her. Edward Clarke laughed heartily at his daughter, bringing her to look at him with a confused expression.

"What?"

He shook his head, a grin on his face. "Don't get so worked up, Eadan. The post will be here soon enough."

Eadan slouched back dramatically, her chin touching her chest. "Soon could be two minutes or two hours."

The was a small laugh for Edward as ruffled Eadan's hair. "You have the patience of a squirrel."

"Dad!" She swatted his hand away and attempted to fix her light brown locks, but before she could do anything, a sound of wings flapping caught her attention.

Eadan leaped up from the couch, not caring a bit that her skirt flew up to expose her floral bloomers to Dillon who shrieked and smacked his hands over his eyes. Her bare feet smacked against the wooden floor as she ran to the kitchen window, where Fergus sat with a tan envelope.

Eadan only stared at the envelope, not moving an inch forward to grab it. She herself didn't know why she was waiting. She liked the feeling of hesitation.

Behind her, Dillon emerged from the living room and crossed his arms. "Enough with the dramatics already, Eadie, just open the bloody thing."

After shooting a tiny glare at her brother, Eadan reached out and pulled the envelope from Fergus. For a split second she wondered if this wasn't the letter she was hoping for, and that maybe it was adressed for someone else. She could feel her heartbeat in her thin fingers as she turned the covering over.

An unavoidable shriek escaped from Eadan's throat as her heart began to pump harder. She looked up at Edward, whose exuberant smile had faded and he suddenly looked as though he was going to cry. He nodded once, urging her to open the letter that trembled with Eadan's hands.

"If you dont open it, I will," Dillon said as he appeared at her side.

With a deep breath she tore open the envelope and pulled out a folded sheet of brown parchment. Eadan unfolded it slowly, and grinned when she saw the curly inked letters that invited her to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
